Job Description

Project Manager, Product Development

The Project Manager is responsible for leading new product and product enhancement projects for automatic door systems from concept through commercialization. Working across local and global cross-functional teams, this role coordinates product development, supply chain readiness, manufacturing preparation, and commercial activities to ensure successful product launches. The Project Manager proactively manages schedules, risks, dependencies, and stakeholder communications to keep projects on track and aligned with business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end execution of new product and product enhancement initiatives for automatic doors, including sliding doors, swinging doors, revolving doors, or other automatic door systems.
  • Serve as the central point of coordination for product launch execution; tracking project milestones, driving accountability, facilitating communication across global teams, and escalating critical issues that could impact project timing, cost, or customer commitments.
  • Work with product management and other stakeholders to define project requirements and scope. Ensure the end product meets the outlined requirements or established deviations.
  • Build and maintain project plans, timelines, resource estimates, and key milestone tracking from concept through product launch
  • Drive the project through the stage-gate process and ensure adherence to the prescribed system from design readiness, pilot builds, production readiness, and commercial launch criteria.
  • Lead cross-functional project meetings and ensure action items are assigned, tracked, and completed.
  • Identify, assess, and proactively manage project risks, dependencies, and issues to minimize impacts on scope, schedule, and launch readiness. Develop mitigation and recovery plans and escalate critical issues to stakeholders and leadership as needed.
  • Coordinate cross-functional work across teams from R&D, manufacturing, sourcing, quality, architectural, marketing, product management, and sales teams; assign owners, resolve conflicts, and escalate decisions when needed.
  • Coordinate compliance, certification, and regulatory activities with technical owners to ensure required approvals are obtained in support of project milestones and launch schedules.
  • Provide regular project updates, facilitate discussions, and drive key decisions with stakeholders and leadership teams.
  • Translate technical details and communicate in an easy-to-understand manner to other project stakeholders, including executive level leadership
  • Drive continuous improvement of project management processes, tools, and reporting methods to enhance project execution and support future product launches.

Requirements

Must-have

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Project Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of project management experience in product development, engineering, manufacturing, or NPI environments. Experience with hardware, electromechanical, or building products is strongly preferred.
  • Proven delivery in a cross-functional, matrix environment (influence without direct authority)
  • Experience creating and maintaining project schedules and status reporting.
  • Highly organized and self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership and accountability. Demonstrated ability to engage stakeholders, drive action items to completion, follow up on commitments, and maintain project momentum through successful delivery.
  • Strong prioritization and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint
  • Proficiency with modern project-tracking tools (Jira, Asana, or similar)

Nice-to-have

  • Experience with agile practices
  • Technical background or experience working in an engineering environment
  • Experience with ERP systems or PLM systems
  • Experience coordinating with supply chain and manufacturing partners
  • Experience working within a global company, multiple brands, or multi-site manufacturing
  • PMP certification or formal project management training

Success in the role

Projects close with agreed scope delivered, controlled cost/schedule variance, clean production and commercial handoff, and documented lessons learned for the next launch.
