Retail Security Officer (Covert) – Hobart Tasmania
Are you observant, discreet, and able to identify risks before they escalate?
As a Covert Retail Security Officer, you will operate within the store environment without drawing attention, focusing on loss prevention, behavioural observation, and incident response. This role goes beyond traditional security - it’s about vigilance, intelligence, and protecting both people and assets while remaining unseen.

Conduct covert surveillance to identify theft and suspicious behaviour
Monitor foot traffic patterns and high-risk activity within the store
Detect and respond to shoplifting and fraudulent activity
Support store teams during incidents requiring discreet intervention
Assist in gathering evidence and preparing incident reports
Operate CCTV and other surveillance systems where required
Liaise with store management and, when necessary, external authorities
Maintain accurate and detailed daily shift and incident reports
Ensure compliance with legal requirements and company procedures
What We’re Looking For
Current Security Licence (as per state requirements)
Current First Aid Certificate & CPR Certifications
Previous experience in covert security or loss prevention
Desirable:
Strong observational and behavioural analysis skills
Experience using CCTV and incident reporting systems
Ability to remain calm, professional, and discreet in dynamic environments
