We are seeking a dedicated, adaptable and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to join Lift Four Dwellings Secondary. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young people and wants to play a vital role in ensuring high-quality learning continues during teacher absences.

As a Cover Supervisor, you will be a familiar and trusted adult within our school community, supervising lessons across a range of subjects, maintaining positive behaviour and supporting students to remain focused and engaged in their learning.

This role would suit someone considering a future career in teaching, education, youth work, or pastoral support, as well as experienced Cover Supervisors seeking their next opportunity.

Your new school

Four Dwellings Academy is part of Lift Schools, a national trust of 59 schools across the country, including 10 schools in the Midlands.

Led by Principal Claire Stoneman, the school has undergone significant transformation and improvement. We are proud to be known as a “small school with a big heart”, where students are supported in a nurturing and ambitious environment.

Recent highlights include:

  • Most improved school in South Birmingham for progress in 2024
  • Among the most improved schools nationally
  • A recent Good Ofsted judgement
  • The best GCSE results in the school’s history

Our school values are built around the Three R’s:

  • Respect – treating others with kindness and dignity
  • Resilience – persevering through challenges
  • Responsibility – taking ownership of our actions and our futures

These values underpin our culture and guide the way we support our students every day.

Your new role

As a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff, ensuring students continue learning in a safe, calm and productive environment.

You will deliver pre-prepared lesson materials, support students' learning, manage behaviour effectively, and provide feedback to teaching staff following lessons. You will also lead our ‘super cover’ provision, when multiple classes require cover alongside a second member of staff.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supervising classes across a range of subjects during teacher absences
  • Delivering lesson materials prepared by teaching staff
  • Lead super cover alongside a second member of staff
  • Maintaining a positive and orderly classroom environment
  • Supporting students to stay on task and complete work to the best of their ability
  • Supporting students with SEND and helping to implement EHCP and IEP targets where appropriate
  • Recording attendance accurately and reporting any concerns
  • Providing feedback to teachers regarding student progress, engagement and behaviour
  • Liaising with pastoral teams regarding student welfare concerns
  • Supporting wider academy activities, including student supervision and enrichment opportunities

You will work closely with teaching, SEND and pastoral teams to ensure every student receives the support they need to thrive.
