Location of Employment: Kansas Judicial Branch, Topeka, KS 66612

Internal candidates will be considered first. This position can work remotely with occasional workdays in the Kansas Judicial Center in Topeka Kansas.

This position serves as a Business Analyst within the Kansas Judicial Branch Information Technology environment, supporting statewide court technology initiatives and the enhancement, implementation, and maintenance of court management systems and related applications.

Responsibilities include supporting the functionality and ongoing enhancement of the court management systems. The role provides user assistance, training, and functional support to internal and external stakeholders. It involves analyzing business needs and processes, evaluating system functionality, identifying and documenting issues, and recommending improvements to system workflows. Duties also include troubleshooting, system testing, issue tracking, system configuration, implementation support, training, and performing related business analysis assignments as needed.

Job Duties:

• Explore and learn new functionality within the case management system and determine if there are business processes that would benefit from that functionality.
• Identify business processes that can be enhanced by developing programming or technical solutions outside of the case management system.
• Gather, analyze, and document business and functional requirements by working with court personnel, clerks, judges, business stakeholders, technical teams, and external partners.
• Develop and execute test scenarios, test cases, and validation activities for system enhancements, integrations, and new functionality.
• Serve as subject matter expert for case management system functionality, court processes, data requirements, and system enhancements.
• Develop training materials, procedural documentation, user guidance, and other resources to support system changes and statewide implementations.
• Provide ongoing support and subject matter expertise to court users and internal stakeholders regarding case management system functionality and business processes.
• Follows established procedures and exercises sound judgment, seeking guidance when protocols are unclear, significant changes are needed, or unexpected issues occur.
• Collaborates with technical team members to ensure system connectivity, integration, and compatibility across platforms.
• Support statewide change management efforts by assessing the operational impact of system changes and communicating updates to affected users.
• Logs system issues and resolutions to build a reference library for future support and improvement.
• Performs additional tasks as required to support the case management and electronic filing systems.

Required Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent is preferred, with major course work in computer science, information technology, management information systems, or related field. Experience in a related field may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.

• Ability to analyze the impact of proposed system changes on business processes, data, reporting, system integrations, and end users.
