About Us:

The Brisbane Community Justice Group is committed to addressing the over-representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples within the criminal justice system. Our work focuses on providing Court support, connecting individuals to culturally appropriate services, and fostering cultural understanding within both the Court system and the broader Community.

About the Role:

The Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) services within the Brisbane Community Justice Group play a vital role in supporting individuals impacted by domestic and family violence. Working collaboratively as part of a broader network, including Queensland Court Services, Queensland Police, and various Government and Non-Government organizations, our DFV team ensures timely, integrated, and client-focused responses.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people;
  • Demonstrated high level of communication skills (written and verbal), and the ability to submit reports and meet deadlines;
  • Knowledge or ability to acquire knowledge of office equipment and software applications including Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word and Excel;
  • Attend Court and provide court support for victims of Domestic and Family Violence;
  • Assist in explanation of Domestic and Family Violence Court Orders and terminology;
  • Build and sustain strong relationships with Government and Non-Government agencies so that effective and timely referrals are made.

  • You Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
  • You identify as female
  • You must have, or be eligible and willing to obtain or complete:
  • A Queensland driver’s license and a Blue Card.
