Summary
The Yavapai County Superior Court is seeking an experienced and highly professional Court Security Manager to oversee and coordinate courthouse security operations throughout Yavapai County. This position is responsible for promoting a safe, secure, and orderly environment for judges, court employees, attorneys, jurors, litigants, visitors, and members of the public.
The Court Security Manager provides leadership and operational direction to court security personnel and works closely with judicial officers, court administration, law enforcement agencies, and other justice system partners. The position requires sound judgement, strong leadership, effective communication, and the ability to respond appropriately to routine security matters as well as emergencies.

Examples of duties
- Supervises the operations of Court Security within the Superior Court and Justice Courts; participates in all personnel related activities; supervises, trains, and evaluates court security staff; prepares work schedules; interprets policies, directives, orders, and other operational regulations; covers court security posts as needed.
- Manages court electronic security systems; monitors court video surveillance systems and various fire and security alarm systems; performs patrols of designated areas; provides security escort services as requested; responds to emergencies and implements emergency procedures when appropriate and as directed.
- Operates metal detectors and x-ray screening machines to detect concealed weapons and hazardous objects; prevents unauthorized access to restricted areas; interacts with the public, court officers, peace officers, judges, and employees, and provides customer service as required; assists bailiffs with security needs in courtrooms at the direction of judges and court administration.
- Develops and implements security policies and procedures; coordinates with local law enforcement and justice agencies; serves as liaison with jail personnel and coordinates/supports transport of prisoners in, through and out of the court facilities; reviews safety and security procedures; recommends and implements approved plans; conducts periodic security assessments in all Yavapai County court facilities.
- Identifies, develops, presents, justifies, and monitors budget; identifies staffing, equipment, materials, and supply needs; reviews and approves purchases and procurement; maintains inventory of supplies and materials; collects statistics and prepares periodic reports regarding security incidents in the court buildings.

Qualifications
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible relevant experience in court security, law enforcement, military, private security, or closely related field, to include two (2) years in a supervisory capacity.
Additional Requirements:
Must possess a valid Arizona driver’s license. Must successfully complete the Court Security Officer Academy within ninety (90) days of hire. Must successfully complete the Armed Court Security Officer Academy. Must comply with the Arizona Code of Conduct for Judicial Employees and complete annual training as required by the Arizona Committee on Judicial Education and Training (COJET).

Work Environment:
The work environment is associated with an office or courtroom with occasional work outdoors. The work area is adequately lighted, heated or cooled and ventilated. This is a highly public position where contact with the public may be in stressful situations.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Sufficient vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech ability to communicate effective in-person and telephonically. Capable of frequent repetitive movement of arms, fingers, and wrists. Ability to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Performs work that requires good physical strength and condition to apply restraining techniques, defensive tactics, react to physical confrontations and emergency situations, may lift and/or carry people, supplies, equipment and/or other heavy, bulky items. May be exposed to potential physical harm, bloodborne pathogens, and/or physical violence; may be required to physically restrain persons, and effectively deal with stressful and potentially life-threatening emergency situations.
