This is responsible paraprofessional work involving a high degree of customer service with the public and a working knowledge of approved family law forms and procedures in place in the Sixth Judicial Circuit. A high degree of independent judgment and case management skills is required to handle all matters, specifically family law-related cases, i.e., Dissolution of Marriage, Establishment of Paternity, etc. A high level of professionalism to assist all callers and litigants. Position frequently requires contact with litigants and requires an effort to manage cases even with the most difficult litigant contacts. Position occasionally requires direct contact with the offices of the judges, magistrates, and hearing officers to case manager. Deviations from standard procedures are generally directed to the Family Court Manager.
Education, Experience, Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations:
• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university and two years of case management experience or experience processing and maintaining administrative records. Progressively responsible experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required college training.
• Preferred experience case managing family law matters, i.e., Dissolution of Marriage and the Establishment of Paternity. Preferred previous experience with family law intake interviews.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Knowledge of policies and procedures relating to the administration of family law.
• Excellent customer service skills, computer skills, and multitasking skills.
• Ability to interact with the public and court staff in a pleasant manner.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to exercise discretion, confidentiality, impartiality, and honesty in handling matters before the court.
• Ability to calculate simple math problems
• Ability to exercise sound judgment in evaluating situations and making recommendations.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
