Job Description

At Lilly, we unite caring with discovery to make life better for people around the world. We are a global healthcare leader headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana. Our employees around the world work to discover and bring life-changing medicines to those who need them, improve the understanding and management of disease, and give back to our communities through philanthropy and volunteerism. We give our best effort to our work, and we put people first. We’re looking for people who are determined to make life better for people around the world.

Lilly Colombia is entering a pivotal phase of growth. A portfolio expanding across multiple therapeutic areas, a team being built for greater scientific depth, and a country-level Medical Affairs function evolving from operational delivery to strategic leadership — this is the context into which the next Country Medical Director steps.

Colombia has become an increasingly important market within the LATAM region, not only for its scientific community and clinical infrastructure, but for its potential to shape how innovative therapies reach patients faster and more equitably. We are looking for a medical leader ready to rise to that moment.
Your Role As Country Medical Director, you will define and drive the medical strategy for Colombia, leading a multidisciplinary team of Medical Managers and Medical Science Liaisons across a growing and complex portfolio. You will be the scientific conscience of the affiliate — ensuring that every medical initiative is grounded in rigor, aligned with global and regional strategy, and designed to generate meaningful impact for patients, healthcare professionals, and the healthcare system.

Beyond strategy, you will play a decisive role in strengthening the organizational capabilities of Medical Affairs Colombia — building structures, processes, and talent that are built to last and scale.

Key Responsibilities

• Medical Leadership: Define and execute the medical strategy for Colombia, ensuring alignment with
regional and global priorities while adapting to the local healthcare environment and patient needs.
• Team Development: Lead, coach, and develop a team of medical professionals, fostering scientific
excellence, accountability, and a high-performance culture across therapeutic areas.
• Country Strengthening: Drive initiatives that elevate Colombia's medical capabilities — from evidence
generation and clinical infrastructure to healthcare ecosystem engagement — positioning the affiliate as a
trusted scientific partner in a dynamic transition environment.
• External Engagement: Build and sustain strategic relationships with the scientific community, key opinion
leaders, medical societies, and payers, ensuring Lilly's medical voice is credible, consistent, and impactful.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as the medical partner to commercial, regulatory, and market
access functions, ensuring scientific integrity is embedded across all affiliate decisions and customer-facing
activities.
• Governance & Compliance: Ensure all medical activities comply with local and international regulations
and internal standards, acting as the custodian of ethical and scientific practice within the organization.
Who We're Looking For
• Education: Medical Degree (MD) required. Postgraduate training in a relevant specialty, clinical research,
or health management is valued.
• Experience: At least 8 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with a minimum of 5 years in
Medical Affairs in progressively senior roles. Proven track record of building or transforming medical teams
in complex, high-growth environments. Exposure to multiple therapeutic areas is an advantage. Experience
operating as a country-level medical leader — or readiness to step into that scope — is essential.
• Skills: Strategic thinking paired with execution discipline. Ability to lead through influence and inspire
teams across a maturing organization. Strong external presence and scientific communication skills.
Business acumen without compromising medical independence.
• Languages: Fluent in English, both written and spoken.

Why Join Us?

• Leadership Impact: Take ownership of a Medical Affairs function at a pivotal moment, with the mandate
and space to shape how it evolves.
• Scientific Depth: Work across a portfolio where medical complexity demands genuine expertise and
curiosity.
• People: Lead a team that is talented, committed, and ready to grow under the right leadership.
• Purpose: Be part of a company that has spent decades putting patients at the center of everything it does
— and means it.
