Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Country Manager to oversee our clients' operations in Tanzania. Our client is a recognized worldwide leader in heavy lifting and engineered transport. The ideal candidate will be responsible for driving business growth, managing operations, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality services to our clients within the logistics and engineered transport sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute strategic plans to expand market presence, increase revenue, and achieve business objectives in Tanzania - must have an entrepreneurial mindset
  • Operational Management: Oversee day-to-day operations, including fleet management, logistics coordination, and supply chain optimization, to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, understanding their needs and ensuring the delivery of exceptional services that exceed their expectations.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.
  • Financial Management: Manage budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance to achieve profitability targets and maximize return on investment.
  • Compliance and Regulatory Affairs: Ensure compliance with local regulations, industry standards, and company policies, promoting a culture of safety and adherence to best practices.
  • Market Analysis and Business Development: Identify market trends, opportunities, and potential risks, and develop strategies to capitalize on emerging opportunities and mitigate risks.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal stakeholders, such as regional and global teams, as well as external partners, government agencies, and industry associations, to drive business growth and address challenges effectively.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Engineering, or a related field; MBA or equivalent preferred.
  • Proven experience (minimum 5 years) in a senior management role within the logistics or engineered transport sector, with a track record of successfully driving business growth and operational excellence.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve goals and deliver results.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a strategic mindset and the capacity to make data-driven decisions.
  • Sound knowledge of local regulations, market dynamics, and industry trends in Tanzania, with experience working in the East African region preferred.
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with fluency in English; proficiency in Swahili is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, analyze financial reports, and drive financial performance.
  • Proven track record of building and maintaining relationships with key clients, stakeholders, and partners.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, with a strong commitment to integrity, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
