Job Description

Lead Transformation. Inspire Change. Deliver Lasting Impact.

We are seeking an exceptional leader to serve as Country Director (CD) for Jordan, a pivotal role responsible for driving impact, shaping strategy, and leading a dynamic country office in a complex and evolving context.

This role is open to both national and international applicants. However, in line with our long-term localization strategy, priority will be given to Jordanian nationals. International candidates will be considered only if a suitable national candidate is not identified.

As CARE’s legal representative in Jordan, the Country Director will provide bold, strategic, and values-driven leadership to advance CARE’s mission. You will steer the country office through a critical phase of transition—from humanitarian response toward integrated recovery and sustainable development—while ensuring operational excellence, program quality, and strong external positioning.

This is a high-impact leadership role requiring a balance of strategic vision, operational discipline, and entrepreneurial thinking.

  • Innovator: Drives change and embraces new approaches, including digital transformation and innovative programming models.
  • Dynamic Network Builder: Builds strategic partnerships across government, donors, civil society, communities, and the private sector.
  • Manager of Complexity: Leads diverse, high-performing teams with emotional intelligence, clarity, and resilience.
  • Impact Driven: Demonstrates a track record of delivering scalable, cost-effective development and humanitarian impact.
  • Agile and Adaptive: Navigates complexity with confidence, leading organizational transformation in rapidly changing environments.

  • Ensure strong financial stewardship, compliance, and cost-effective operations

  • Lead risk management, safeguarding, and security to protect staff and assets

  • Maintain fit-for-purpose systems and structures aligned with organizational growth
