Frankfurt Zoological Society (FZS) is an internationally operating nature conservation organisation based in Germany that has been supporting conservation projects in Africa, South America, Southeast Asia and Europe for many decades. Following our mission to conserve wildlife and ecosystems, we are focusing our work on protected areas and outstanding wild places.
In South America, FZS concentrates its efforts on the Amazon rainforest. In view of the worrying deforestation, increased wildfires and the approaching critical tipping point of the Amazon biome, FZS has decided to expand its engagement in the region and particularly in the Brazilian Amazon. For this reason, a national organisation, Associacao Frankfurt Zoological Society Brasil (FZSB), was established in 2024 and in 2025 a cooperation agreement was signed with the federal protected area authority (ICMBio).
In view of this, FZS is seeking a Country Coordinator Brazil (gn) who will lead the further institutional development of FZS in Brazil and coordinate the implementation of project activities to support the management of conservation units in the Brazilian Amazon, in particular the Pico da Neblina and Serra Do Divisor National Parks on a long-term basis.
The position will be based in Manaus, Brazil at the current head office of FZSB with frequent travels to the current and future project sites in the Brazilian Amazon. The position holder will have an international contract with FZS headquarters in Germany and an annual visit to HQ in Frankfurt is envisaged.

The Frankfurt Zoological Society (FZS) was established in 1858 and is an internationally operating conservation organisation based in Frankfurt/Main.
Our work is committed to conserving biological diversity. FZS is therefore faced with one of the greatest challenges of the 21st century: the preservation of the world’s natural environments.
FZS is currently involved in conservation projects in 18 countries on four continents. Although the society’s main purpose is global nature conservation, it also supports the Frankfurt Zoological Garden, which was founded more than 150 years ago by the Frankfurt Zoological Society.
The Society is an independent, non-profit organisation. The conservation projects are financed through membership fees, private donations and bequests as well as from investment returns from the “Help for Threatened Wildlife” Foundation. Financial support also comes from third-party funds such as other foundations and charitable trusts.
