Closing Date: Friday 17th of July 2026

Are you looking for a career move that will put you at the heart of a global financial institution? Then bring your skills in risk management, analytical judgment, governance and stakeholder engagement to Citi’s counterparty credit risk team in Frankfurt.

By joining Citi, you will become part of a global organisation whose mission is to serve as a trusted partner to our clients by responsibly providing financial services that enable growth and economic progress.

Team / Role Overview:

This role sits within Citi’s European Risk organization, specifically within the Financial Institutions Group & Counterparty Credit Risk, and provides senior oversight of counterparty credit risk (CCR) within a regulated broker-dealer legal entity.

The position has a strong emphasis on CCR governance and audit-ready risk management frameworks and processes, ensuring robust risk identification, challenge, escalation, and control across the legal entity. The SVP is a strategic and hands-on risk professional who applies deep expertise to complex credit decisions, contributes to technical risk strategy, and maintains a direct, detail-oriented approach to portfolio oversight, credit file review, and documentation quality.

Operating at the intersection of risk, business, and regulation, the role requires strong judgment, credibility, and the ability to engage effectively with senior stakeholders, governance forums, and regulators. The role partners closely with Markets, Banking, Institutional Credit Management (ICM), and cross-risk teams, while maintaining active engagement with regulators and audit functions, including supporting reviews, responding to findings, and contributing to remediation efforts.

Strong connectivity with global risk and ICM teams, particularly in London and New York, is critical to ensure alignment with global standards, policies, and evolving best practices.

What you’ll do:

  • Conduct detailed review of counterparty credit files, documentation, and exposure analysis to ensure completeness, accuracy, and audit readiness
  • Lead end-to-end review and resolution of audit and regulatory issues, including identification of gaps and development of corrective action plans
  • Provide senior-level approval and oversight of complex counterparty credit risk transactions, including structured and non-standard financing activities
  • Drive strong CCR governance across the legal entity, including risk identification, challenge, escalation, and oversight of control effectiveness
  • Manage and monitor a diverse portfolio of counterparty exposures, identifying trends, root causes, and emerging risks across market and macroeconomic developments
  • Play a central role in legal entity governance, including participation in committees, escalation forums, and board-level reporting
  • Represent risk management in regulatory engagement, supervisory reviews, and internal/external audit interactions, ensuring a robust and defensible control environment
  • Partner closely with Institutional Credit Management (ICM), Markets, Banking, and global CCR teams to ensure consistency, alignment, and adherence to global standards and best practices

What we’ll need from you:

We are looking for a senior risk professional with strong technical expertise, governance experience, and the ability to operate both strategically and hands-on within a complex environment:

  • Extensive experience in counterparty credit risk or credit risk within a global financial institution
  • Strong understanding of CCR governance frameworks, including legal entity oversight, regulatory expectations, and audit/control environments
  • Proven experience engaging with regulatory frameworks such as MaRisk, KWG, and CRR, particularly in the context of regulatory examinations, internal audit, or external audit interactions
  • Demonstrated ability to operate at a senior approval authority level, exercising independent credit judgment on complex and time-sensitive transactions
  • Experience working within a regulated legal entity environment, including governance forums, regulatory engagement, and audit interactions
  • Experience operating at or near Senior Credit Officer (SCO) level, or a clear trajectory toward such responsibility
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across Markets, Banking, Institutional Credit Management (ICM), and Risk in a matrixed environment
  • Strong analytical and execution capabilities, including hands-on experience in credit file review, exposure analysis, and issue remediation
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to present complex risk topics to senior management, regulators, and governance bodies
  • Fluency in English required; additional European language skills (e.g., German) are a plus

What we can offer you:

This is a senior role offering the opportunity to operate at the center of Citi’s European Markets franchise, with direct exposure to complex products, senior stakeholders, and regulatory engagement. The role provides a strong platform to further develop expertise in credit risk, governance, and enterprise risk management, combining senior decision-making with hands-on involvement in portfolio oversight, audit readiness, and regulatory deliverables within a highly regulated business.

By joining Citi in Frankfurt, Germany, you will not only be part of a business casual workplace with a hybrid working model (up to 2 days working at home per week), but also receive a competitive base salary (which is annually reviewed) and enjoy a whole host of additional benefits that support you (and your family) to be well, live well and save well.
