Job Description
The Counter Sales Representative serves as the face of Betts Truck Parts & Service to customers visiting the store. This role provides a high level of customer service, product knowledge, and efficiency to ensure each customer has an excellent experience while representing and modeling the Betts Way.
Responsibilities and Duties
Counter Sales Representative I
- Represent Betts Company in a respectful, knowledgeable, and professional manner to customers, vendors, and other contacts.
- Respond to customer inquiries in person, by phone, or electronically regarding parts availability and pricing.
- Suggest related products to increase sales.
- Pull parts from stock or coordinate with the warehouse to fulfill orders, including service team requests.
- Restock and maintain organized showrooms.
- Serve as a product and vendor resource to educate customers and assist with purchase decisions.
- Navigate vendor websites to source products for customers.
- Continuously expand product and vendor knowledge.
- Keep sales software current with accurate sales and customer information.
- Process orders from the outside sales team and assist service staff with parts identification and sourcing.
- Complete transactions, including invoices, credits, and point-of-sale processing.
- Meet or exceed monthly sales goals.
- Record outbound calls to prospective customers and document lost sales.
- Communicate inventory discrepancies and pricing issues to the Branch Manager.
- Identify, measure, and bend U-bolts as needed.
Counter Sales Representative II
- Perform all Level I responsibilities.
- Maintain a daily average of 25 customer invoices.
- Accurately identify, measure, and locate common parts independently.
- Verify customer accounts and pricing without assistance.
Counter Sales Representative III
- Perform all Level I and II responsibilities.
- Act as a master parts identifier and verify market-accurate pricing, recommending adjustments when necessary.
- Provide input to the Branch Manager on purchase trends and stocking needs.
- Mentor, train, and support Level I team members

Requirements
Experience and Education
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 1 year of retail sales experience preferred.
- Familiarity with automotive repairs and parts preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Excellent verbal communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to make sales and develop rapport with customers.
- Ability to adjust terminology based on the customer’s knowledge level.
- Knowledge of a variety of automotive parts, vendors, and services.
- Ability to identify parts and provide recommendations to customers, including upselling.
- Computer skills to utilize vendor lookup tools, software, and point-of-sale systems.
- Team-oriented approach with the ability to collaborate across all areas of the branch to provide excellent customer service.
Tools and Equipment Used
- ERP and service management software, including order management, labor tracking, and inventory systems.
- Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- SharePoint for SOPs, KPI dashboards, and team collaboration.
- Communication tools, including email, phone, Teams, and Zoom.
- Personal protective equipment for shop floor visits.
- Office equipment, including computers, printers, and scanners.
