Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the completion of the patient databases, treatment plans, progress notes, discharge summaries, and other essential documentations in accordance with applicable federal and state standards and agency policies and procedures.
  • Provide patients with orientation regarding objectives of the program, phase system requirements, rules and regulations, sanctions, hours of services, patient rights, and additional information to help patents adjust to the program.
  • Assure each patient is assessed and placed according to the treatment phases in accordance with Federal and State standards and agency policies.
  • Assure all clinical documentation and patient charts updates in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Counsel patients in crisis situations by identifying patient resources and coping abilities to help patients cope with and resolve crisis.
  • Counsel patients who have refused to comply with specific program requirements to increase patient awareness of consequences of noncompliance.
  • Arrange referrals to other agencies and resources in the community when appropriate.
  • Perform treatment plan reviews
  • Participate in case conferences and case reviews in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Develop and increase knowledge of federal, state, and agency regulations regarding confidentiality, methadone treatment, and substance abuse counseling certification.
  • Submit all internal an external correspondence to supervisor for review and approval.
  • Complete intakes, facilitate group counseling sessions.
  • Collection and testing of urine/swab drug screening following proper chain of custody.
  • Secure necessary documentation from patients, when appropriate, to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Submit monthly and quarterly statistical reports to supervisor.
  • Attend supervisions as scheduled
  • Attend team meetings and complete all training courses timely as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

· Counselor I

  • Associate’s Degree
  • CAAC (Certified Associate Addiction Counselor)
  • Substance abuse counselors in training who are not CADC shall be enrolled in courses leading to certification as a CADC shall be enrolled in courses leading to certification as a CADC in addition to in-service training and become creditalaled within three years of the date of hire by the facility; in addition to a semiannual review of progress while employed at the facility.
  • Master's Degree or above from an accredited college with a major in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, nursing (with a clinical specialty in human services) or another related field with includes a practicum in a health or human service agency, preferably in a drug and alcohol setting. If the practicum did not take place in a drug and alcohol setting, the individual's written training plan shall specifically address a plan to achieve counseling competency in chemical dependency issues. or
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college with a major in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, nursing (with clinical specialty in the human services) or other related field and 1 tear of clinical experience; or
  • Associate degree from an accredited college with a major chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, nursing (with clinical specialty in the human services) or other related field and 1 tear of clinical experience; or

· Counselor II

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher
  • CADC
  • Master's Degree or above from an accredited college with a major in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, nursing (with a clinical specialty in human services) or another related field with includes a practicum in a health or human service agency, preferably in a drug and alcohol setting. If the practicum did not take place in a drug and alcohol setting, the individual's written training plan shall specifically address a plan to achieve counseling competency in chemical dependency issues. or
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college with a major in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, nursing (with clinical specialty in the human services) or other related field and 1 tear of clinical experience,

· Counselor III (min requirements for consideration)

  • Master’s degree
  • CAADC
  • LCSW
  • LPC
  • LSW
  • Master's Degree or above from an accredited college with a major in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, nursing (with a clinical specialty in human services) or another related field with includes a practicum in a health or human service agency, preferably in a drug and alcohol setting. If the practicum did not take place in a drug and alcohol setting, the individual's written training plan shall specifically address a plan to achieve counseling competency in chemical dependency issues.
