We're looking for a Cost & Systems Accountant to join our Finance team in Invercargill. This is an exciting opportunity for an accountant who enjoys working across both finance and technology, supporting business-critical systems while providing valuable cost accounting expertise to the wider business.

About the Role

Reporting to the Financial Analysis & Reporting Manager, you'll play a key role in supporting and enhancing PowerNet's financial systems, ensuring accurate reporting, effective financial controls, and meaningful information is available to support business decisions.

This varied role will see you:

  • Support and administer Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, Continia and related finance systems
  • Provide practical system support and guidance to finance, project, operational and business users
  • Maintain system controls, user access, master data and financial workflows
  • Support project costing, work order management and operational cost reporting
  • Identify and help implement process improvements, automation opportunities and system enhancements
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders, IT and external service providers to improve efficiency, controls and user experience

About You

You'll be a collaborative and proactive accountant who enjoys solving problems, improving processes and helping others get the most from business systems.

To be successful in this role, you'll bring:

  • A tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related discipline
  • At least four years' accounting experience
  • Experience working with accounting and reporting systems
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
  • A continuous improvement mindset and a willingness to challenge the status quo

Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and CA ANZ membership (or progress towards membership) would be advantageous.

Electricity Invercargill Limited (EIL) is owned by the ratepayers of the Invercargill City Council (ICC) and The Power Company Limited (TPC) is owned by the Southland Electric Power Supply Consumer Trust (SEPSCT) which represents consumers connected to their network.
