At WSP, you can access our global scale, contribute to nationally significant programmes and work alongside some of the brightest minds in Project, Programme & Commercial Management. You can grow your career on complex infrastructure and defence projects that make a lasting impact.

We are seeking a Cost Manager to join our growing Defence team, supporting high-profile programmes across the UK. This role offers the opportunity to work on critical projects within a secure environment, helping our clients successfully deliver major capital investments.

A little more about your role...

As a Cost Manager, you will provide commercial and cost management expertise throughout the project lifecycle, supporting the successful delivery of major defence and infrastructure programmes.

You will:

  • Develop and manage project cost plans, options appraisals and estimates across key stages of the project lifecycle.
  • Monitor project budgets, forecasts and financial performance.
  • Undertake cost reporting, cost assurance reviews, benchmarking, change control and risk analysis to support robust project decisions.

  • Work collaboratively with project managers, engineers and client teams.
  • Provide commercial insight to inform key project decisions.
  • Contribute to the delivery of complex programmes within highly regulated environments.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing team working on some of the UK's most strategically important projects, while benefiting from WSP's commitment to professional development and career progression.

What we will be looking for you to demonstrate...

  • Experience working as a Cost Manager, Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager within major projects or programmes.
  • Strong cost planning and estimating capability, including the preparation of estimates at different project stages, option comparisons, benchmarking and the use of relevant cost data.
  • Experience of cost assurance activities, including reviewing estimates, testing assumptions, identifying cost risks and providing clear, evidence-based recommendations, alongside administering contracts and managing project change.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary delivery teams.
  • MRICS qualified (preferred) or working towards.
  • Experience within Defence, Nuclear, Infrastructure or other highly regulated sectors would be advantageous.
  • Eligibility to obtain UK Security Clearance is essential.
