Georgia-Pacific is seeking an experienced Cost Estimator to lead and support project estimating across the project lifecycle. This role is responsible for estimate planning, support of estimate development, review, and validation, as well as supporting cost management, forecasting, and analysis.
Typical responsibilities include partnering with preferred engineering and construction firms to develop project cost estimates using proven industry practices; preparing conceptual estimates when design information is limited; developing detailed, bottom-up estimates for project authorization; identifying risks and value-improvement opportunities; assessing estimate quality; and validating estimates against internal and external data. During construction, the Cost Estimator reviews and challenges change orders. After project completion, the role benchmarks actual project costs to improve future estimating.
Estimators are frequently challenged with tight timelines that are changing to meet business needs. The ability to work on multiple projects with speed and self-confidence is a must. Applicants should be self-motivated and have the desire to share knowledge and continually improve the estimating practices and processes of GP.
This role offers the opportunity to influence major capital project decisions, strengthen estimating standards, and build more reliable cost intelligence across Georgia-Pacific’s project portfolio.
This is a home-based role that requires up to 25% travel, typically Monday through Thursday/Friday to job sites or select in-person staff meetings.
