Job Description

At Sedgman, we deliver some of the world’s most complex mineral processing projects, supporting clients across the global resources and critical minerals sectors. As a Cost Controller, you will help maintain the financial visibility, forecasting discipline and cost confidence required to support the successful delivery of a major EPCM project.

Based across Belo Horizonte and the project site in Brazil, you will work closely with project controls, commercial, procurement, finance and project delivery teams to monitor commitments, expenditure, forecasts, changes and cost performance.

This is an opportunity to join the project during a critical stage of delivery and provide the accurate information and analysis that enable timely, well-informed decisions.

In this role, you will:

  • Prepare and maintain project budgets, forecasts, cost codes and cost reports.
  • Monitor commitments, expenditure, accruals, cash flow and forecast costs to completion.
  • Analyse actual and forecast performance against approved budgets and project baselines.
  • Identify cost trends, variances and emerging issues and provide clear supporting analysis.
  • Maintain accurate cost information within project and enterprise systems.
  • Support earned value reporting and the integration of cost, schedule and progress data.
  • Track scope changes, variations, risks, opportunities and contingencies.
  • Support progress claims, invoicing and project financial reporting.
  • Review subcontractor and supplier progress claims, commitments and invoices.
  • Assist with estimates, feasibility assessments and project financial planning.
  • Work with project teams to improve cost awareness, data quality and forecasting accuracy.
  • Provide timely cost information to project leadership, the client and relevant stakeholders.

What we’re looking for

You’re an analytical and detail-focused cost professional who understands how accurate information, disciplined forecasting and constructive stakeholder engagement contribute to successful project delivery.

  • Tertiary qualification, or equivalent experience, in engineering, construction management, project management, commerce or a related discipline.
  • Relevant cost control or project controls experience within mining, construction, engineering or a related industry.
  • Practical project or site-based experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience preparing project budgets, forecasts, cost reports and cost-to-complete analysis.
  • Working knowledge of earned value management and project performance reporting.
  • Proficiency using ERP, cost control and reporting systems; experience with JD Edwards or equivalent systems is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical, numerical and problem-solving capability.
  • High attention to detail with clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage priorities and deadlines in a dynamic project environment.
  • Professional fluency in Portuguese and English is strongly preferred.

Why this role?

This is an opportunity to help establish strong cost control discipline on a major mineral processing project and provide the insight decision-makers need to protect performance and commercial outcomes.

If you’re looking for more in your next move, you’ll find it here: more opportunity to deepen your project controls expertise, more impact through reliable cost insight, more perspective through multidisciplinary collaboration, and more purpose supporting the resources and critical minerals projects helping shape the future.
