We are seeking a highly skilled Cost Controller within our Global Business Services (GBS). This role will be responsible for the creation, maintenance, and governance of standard costs and costed Bills of Material (BOMs) across multiple business units and entities. The Cost Controller will serve as the central point of expertise for product costing, supporting manufacturing, supply chain, finance, and operational teams while driving continuous improvement in costing methodologies and standard cost calculations.

This job is based in Cluj-Napoca, Romania We provide a flexible working schedule with the option of working hybrid.

Key Responsibilities of the Role

  • Create and maintain standard costs for newly created items across multiple business units and entities, ensuring accuracy and consistency across locations.

  • Perform item costing activities for Distribution Centers (DC), Warranty Centers, and other operational locations while ensuring all items are correctly costed prior to inventory transactions.

  • Maintain costing-related master data within ERP systems and create, validate, and maintain costed Bills of Material (BOMs).

  • Ensure cost structures accurately reflect material, labor, and overhead components to support accurate inventory valuation and financial reporting.

  • Analyze and validate standard cost calculations, investigate cost variances, and recommend corrective actions to improve costing accuracy and efficiency.

  • Support annual standard cost updates and periodic cost reviews while driving continuous improvements in costing methodologies and calculation approaches.

  • Develop and prepare financial reports, analyses, and insights that increase transparency into product costs, profitability, and cost drivers for business stakeholders.

  • Support the deployment and adherence of global costing processes, policies, and internal controls while ensuring compliance with company standards.

  • Collaborate with Operations, Supply Chain, Procurement, Manufacturing, and Finance teams to establish consistent cost management practices across locations.

  • Provide guidance and support to business stakeholders regarding costing requirements, processes, and best practices.

  • Calculate and maintain cost-based intercompany pricing and support related financial analysis activities.

  • Identify opportunities to standardize, streamline, and automate costing processes across multiple business units and entities.

  • Lead initiatives focused on improving costing accuracy, operational efficiency, and reporting capabilities.

  • Support ERP enhancements, system implementations, and process improvement projects related to product costing and financial data management.

  • Develop and maintain costing documentation, procedures, and governance standards to ensure consistency and sustainability of costing processes.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • 3–7 years of relevant experience in product costing, manufacturing finance, cost accounting, or a similar role.

  • Experience working with ERP systems such as Oracle, SAP, JDE, or similar platforms.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial and operational data, identify trends, and provide actionable recommendations.

  • Excellent attention to detail with a high level of accuracy and ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Fluent in spoken and written English.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

  • Professional certification such as CMA, CIMA, CPA, ACCA, or equivalent is an advantage.

  • Strong regional accounting knowledge, including US GAAP and IFRS.

  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

  • Proactive and results-oriented mindset with the ability to identify improvement opportunities and drive execution.

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization.

  • Flexible attitude and ability to adapt in a dynamic, global environment.
