– Cost Accountant (Financial Analyst)
PrimeSource Building Products, Inc., has an immediate opportunity for a Cost Accountant (Financial Analyst) within the Financial Planning & Analysis team located at the Las Colinas (Irving), Texas corporate office.
The role provides a mix of responsibilities of a traditional Financial Analysis across the larger organization, as well as, specific focus on the Cost Accounting needs across PrimeSource, will report to a Director of FP&A and serve as a key member within the corporate and field finance teams. As a key member of the Finance team, the Financial Analyst will have a high-level of exposure to senior executives and frequently interact with others cross-functionally within the organization.

Qualifications
Role & Responsibilities
- Own detailed analysis of product cost structures across PrimeSource’s light manufacturing and assembly operations, including materials, labor, and manufacturing overhead.
- Lead standard cost and variance analysis, including labor efficiency, manufacturing / overhead absorption, scrap / yield / production loss drivers, and purchase price variance with clear root‑cause explanations.
- Partner with plant operations leaders to understand production volumes, yields, scrap, labor productivity, and throughput—and influence decisions through fact‑based financial insight.
- Translate operational assumptions (production plans, labor models, overhead rates, shift structures) into accurate, driver‑based financial forecasts.
- Prepare and communicate monthly actual vs. budget vs. forecast variance analysis, highlighting business implications and recommended actions.
- Be the FP&A partner during month‑end close, supporting Accounting with timely, well‑reasoned explanations of cost and inventory results.
- Serve as a trusted finance partner to Operations and Plant Leadership.
- Independently identify issues, develop analyses, and propose solutions—operating with minimal oversight in a fast‑paced environment.
- Assists with the monthly financial closing process as needed
- Performs ongoing monitoring and review of transactional data within key functional areas to aid in the proper accounting of financial activity, identify trends/variances, and forecast financial results
- Actively creates ad-hoc analysis to help identify root cause issues and solutions
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Supply Chain, Engineering, Math or a related quantitative discipline.
- 3–5 years of relevant experience in manufacturing finance, cost accounting, FP&A, or an operations‑focused analytical role.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing cost drivers, standard costing, and inventory economics.
- Advanced Excel skills; experience working with SAP ERP and operational data.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high standard of accuracy.
- Excellent quantitative skills, ability to clearly communicate key findings and implications on the business
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to build relationships across the organization, influence others and present to individuals or groups
- Intellectually curious with a desire to learn, think independently and take action
- CPA, CMA, or progress toward similar relevant certification is a plus, but not required.

Skills & Tools
- Exceptional Microsoft Excel skills (expert ability with pivot tables and advanced formulas is required; macros, Visual Basic and more is a plus)
- Comfortable using Microsoft PowerPoint to communicate and present findings
- Ability to manipulate and analyze very large data sets and present findings in coherent and effective manner
- Exposure to predictive analytics, time series forecasting, statistical analysis
- High level of technical skills; comfortable learning new systems and reporting / BI tools
- Experience with SAP is a plus (not required)
