About the Role

We are seeking a Cost Accountant to join our Finance team and help strengthen manufacturing cost accounting, inventory, WIP, and job costing within our growing manufacturing business.

This role is ideal for someone with approximately 2–4 years of accounting experience who has a strong accounting foundation, exposure to manufacturing, and an interest in developing deep expertise in cost accounting and ERP-driven financial processes.

The Cost Accountant will work closely with Finance, Purchasing, Production Planning, and Operations to improve cost visibility, inventory accuracy, and manufacturing reporting.

What You’ll Do

  • Own and support manufacturing cost accounting, including inventory, WIP, and job costing
  • Review job costs and analyze material, labor, overhead, and purchase price variances
  • Reconcile inventory and WIP to the general ledger
  • Support standard cost maintenance and analysis
  • Review completed jobs for costing accuracy
  • Support cycle counts, physical inventory, and inventory adjustments
  • Prepare manufacturing-related journal entries and month-end reconciliations
  • Oversee key Accounts Payable controls, including PO, receipt, and invoice matching and inventory-related invoice accuracy
  • Support AP cutoff, accruals, and received-not-invoiced items
  • Partner with Operations and Purchasing to investigate cost and transaction issues and identify root causes
  • Help improve ERP-based reporting and manufacturing accounting processes

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Approximately 2–4 years of accounting experience
  • Manufacturing accounting experience strongly preferred, including exposure to inventory, WIP, job costing, or standard costing
  • Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, including debits, credits, journal entries, and reconciliations
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Experience working with an ERP system; Epicor or another manufacturing ERP is a plus (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, Infor, Plex, or JD Edwards)
