Cost Accountant | Oxford Nanopore Technologies

📍 Hybrid, across Oxfordshire sites.

We’re looking for two Cost Accountants to join our growing Finance team at Oxford Nanopore Technologies.

This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in supporting our manufacturing and production operations within a fast-paced, global biotech organisation that is transforming genomics.

🔬 About the Role

As a Cost Accountant, you’ll support the Finance Business Partner – Production team, working at the intersection of finance, manufacturing, and supply chain

You’ll take ownership of key areas across inventory, cost analysis, and reporting, helping to ensure accuracy, insight, and continuous improvement in a complex production environment.

🚀 What You’ll Be Doing

  • Managing inventory and production balance sheet reconciliations
  • Supporting Finance Business Partners with regular and ad hoc analysis
  • Preparing month-end reports, including cost centre reporting, accruals, and prepayments
  • Reviewing and supporting inventory movements, journals, and workflows
  • Partnering with operations to review purchase orders and stock movements
  • Supporting stock counts and standard cost reviews to improve accuracy
  • Reconciling data with third-party logistics providers
  • Assisting with year-end accounts and audit queries
  • Driving process improvements and identifying efficiencies across finance operations

🧠 What We’re Looking For

  • Part or newly qualified ACCA / CIMA, or QBE
  • Around 2+ years’ experience in a similar role
  • Experience working with large, complex datasets in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong Excel skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills and a proactive, solutions-focused mindset

Desirable:

  • Experience in manufacturing, supply chain, or complex production environments
  • Familiarity with systems such as D365 or Tableau
  • Experience with variance analysis
