Provides a high level of technical support on a regional or system basis relating to corrosion control and pipeline integrity. Designs and maintains cathodic protection and internal corrosion control facilities. Conducts internal and external specialized corrosion tests on steel structures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Designs, install, operates and maintains cathodic protection facilities, power lines, galvanic anodes, and corrosion control facilities. Monitors the conditions of the pipeline through pipe-to-soil potentials, visual inspection, examination of coupons, data from in-line tools, etc. Monitors electrical isolation and identifies points of electrical shorts. Conducts various test, measurements, and surveys to ensure efficient operation of cathodic protection facilities. Evaluates trends to plan for corrective actions, including capital project replacement. Lead efforts to design and implement effective long term cathodic protection system. Prepares drawings, job specifications and contract bid documents. Assists E&C and Engineering personnel with the evaluation, development, implementation and maintenance of facility grounding system. Performs coating evaluations for atmospheric corrosion control and prepare mitigation plans. Inspects the work activities of third party vendors Mentors fellow team members when the opportunity arises. Supervisory Responsibilities This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
