Job Description

The Corr osion Control Spe cialist performs aircraft corr osion c ontrol to include w ashing, clea ning, corrosion detection, cor rosion r emoval, metal tre atme nt, a nd touch up painting. Assist in the preparation of the aircraft and/or components f or complete re paint.

Essential Responsibilitie s

  • Perf orm tasks a s a ssigned /directed by Cre w Le ader a nd/or Lea d Man with instr uctions,
    applica ble tec hnical data, manuals, and directive s
  • Perf orm the dutie s and responsibilities of the Aircr aft Washe r classification.
  • Prese rve and de -preserve aircra ft.
  • Complete applica ble mainten anc e forms.
  • Use ha nd and powe r tools as r equire d for corrosion preve ntion, treatme nt and touch up painting.
  • Detect, identify, remove, and treat corr osion.
  • Perf orm touc h up painting. Touc h up is de fine d as an a rea no large r tha n one squa re foot,
    excluding aircra ft leading edge s
  • Assist in the pr eparation of the aircra ft a nd / or components for c omplete re painting
    including the application of model, labels, and the make up, cut out and prepa ration of stencils.
  • Provide and maintain own hand tools as pre scribed by minimum tool list
  • Provide tec hnical assistanc e, guida nce a nd instruction as re quired for training of pe rsonnel in the same or le sser gr ade classifications in are a of re sponsibility. D emonstrates job
    proc edures.
  • Ensure that all aircra ft parts/components removed fr om a n aircraft are pr ope rly doc umente d by a valid Maintena nce A ction Form a nd Job Control Number, e nsuring repair able ,
    ser vicea ble , or unservicea ble pa rts are properly tagge d and turned in a nd/or dispose d of.
  • Comply with a nd follow e stablishe d standa rds of workmanship, saf ety, quality, a nd
    production.
  • Perf orm the duties and responsibilities of the lesse r gr ade cla ssific ations in ar ea of
    re sponsibility
  • Make recommendations to mana geme nt to improve pr oductivity, increa se efficiencie s,
    and/or c ut c osts.
  • Ope rate porta ble fire fighting equipment.
  • Comply with all applica ble pr ograms, including Saf ety, Foreign Object Damage (FOD ), Ha zar dous Communications, Corrosion Control, a nd Tool Control
  • Maintain Emer gency Reclamation locker and perform duties of emergency re clamation member as directed by progr am te chnical manuals.
  • Perf orm all other position related duties a s a ssigne d or re que sted.

Minimum Positi on Kn owledge, Skills, and Abilitie s Requir ed:

  • Satisf actory completion of The U.S. Na vy Corro sion Control School or ac ceptable substitute or FAA Airf rame Lic ense.
  • Tw o ( 2) or more yea rs ge neral experience in aircr aft corr osion c ontrol.
  • Able to pass a ny Government and/or Company lice nsing/qualification r equirements for the position.
  • Requir ed to be Pla ne Captain certified.
  • Must be Respirator Qualified
  • Possess a valid state drive r’s lice nse.
  • Familiar with normal ope rational saf ety r equirements, working on and
    ar ound aircraft and ground support equipme nt.
  • Possess a thor ough w orking knowledg e of corrosion the ory, detection, tre atme nt, a nd prevention.
  • Working knowledge of applic able maintenance / tec hnic al manuals, basic tools and special tools.
  • Ability to re ad, write, unde rsta nd, and c ommunicate the English language and to follow ver bal and writte n instruction.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

  • Requires sitting, standin g, and walking f or extended pe riods of time.
  • Require s fre que nt climbing, be nding, stooping, squatting, cra wling, crouc hing, kneeling, lifting, ca rrying, balancing and r eaching a bove shoulder level, pushing or pulling weight up to 70 pounds.
  • Require s eye -hand coor dination and manual dexterity.
  • Must have close vision, c olor vision, peripheral vision, de pth pe rception and the a bility to adjust focus.
  • Require s hearing to normal ra nge.
  • Requires use of respirator.
  • Require s shift work and a dive rsity of working conditions that range fr om a standard shop type environme nt, where there may be no physical discomfort, to a n environme nt w here inclement we athe r may subject individual to se vere changes in temper ature , direct sun, wind, rain, etc.
  • May be requir ed to work in a rea s wher e noise haz ards are pre valent.
  • Exposure to high intensity noise le vels, extreme changes in temperature, materials identifie d on Material Saf ety Data Sheets, working on or around aircra ft a nd mac hine ry, aircraft maintenance shops, hangars, and flight line.
  • Must be a ble to physically operate Aircraft ground servicing equipment including vehicle s, tugs, tra ctor s, servicing ca rts, test e quipment, hand tools, powe r tools
