Responsible for assisting with Corrective Action Program (CAP) activities as well as proactively identifying and driving performance and process improvements within the Engineering Department.

Please Note: This position is posted in a range, and an offer will be made based on the candidate's qualifications.

What You'll Do:

  • Conduct activities associated with performance improvement programs, including accurate navigation of Corrective Action Program software.
  • Complete all types of corrective action program assignments, including higher level evaluations (Trend, Cause, INPO Event Report (INPO) Evaluations, Effectiveness Reviews), as qualified.
  • Lead or participate on self-assessments and benchmarking activities across multiple disciplines and cross-functionally.
  • Maintain knowledge of current industry trends in performance and process improvement through networking activities, participation on conference calls, industry meetings, and assessments at other stations.
  • Facilitate Engineering Responsible Group Screening (RGS) for daily review of newly initiated Condition Reports.
  • Process the items screened in the Engineering RGS in the CAP software
  • Interact cross-functionally with all other departments in Initial Screening Committee and Work Assessment Group.
  • Three years’ experience in nuclear Performance Improvement and/or Engineering is preferred.


What We're Looking For:

Nuclear Engineer/ Salary Grade 7: $87,633 - $109,544

  • Has typically acquired 2 or more years of related engineering experience along with a Bachelor's degree in engineering in a program accredited by ABET*, Individuals with a Master's degree in engineering in a program accredited by ABET* may be considered for entry into the organization at this level. *ABET - Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology.

Acceptable alternative:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (non-ABET) plus a Master's degree or PhD in engineering from a university with an ABET accredited Bachelor's program.
  • **VP or above may waive the requirement for a degree from a university with a non-ABET accredited program.

Nuclear Engineer, Senior/ Salary Grade 8:$98,993 - $128,689

  • Has typically acquired 4 or more years of related engineering experience along with a Bachelor's degree in engineering in a program accredited ABET*; or 2 years of related engineering experience along with a Master's degree or PhD in engineering from a program accredited by ABET*. Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in any U.S. state or Puerto Rico is encouraged and preferred. *ABET - Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology.

Acceptable alternative:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (non-ABET) plus a Master's degree or PhD in engineering from a university with an ABET accredited Bachelor's program. **Confirmation is required to ensure the PE obtained in Puerto Rico aligns with NCEES standards.
  • **VP or above may waive the requirement for a degree from a university with a non-ABET accredited program.

Other Requirements:

  • May perform walk downs in plant environment which may include exposure to heat, cold, noise, and radiation exposure.
  • Fluent user of CAP software.
  • Cause Evaluation experience is encouraged and preferred.
  • Experience and knowledge of the Work Control Process is encouraged and preferred.
  • Maintain knowledge of current industry trends in performance and process improvement through networking activities, participation on conference calls, industry meetings, and assessment at other stations.
  • Effective writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • High attention to detail and a strong questioning attitude.

Must establish and maintain a permanent residence within a 45-minute safe drive time to the D.C. Cook Nuclear Plant.
