Description

Would you like to have a position that is team oriented and full of opportunity for career development? Then a
career as a Corrections Training Instructor/Coordinator I may be the perfect job for you. You will get to work
with multiple entities across the Department of Corrections in the training of new recruits, as well as other
specialty trainings for experienced staff.

The ideal candidate for this position will have strong communication skills, time management skills,
initiative, ability to work under pressure, decision-making skills, be able to work in a team setting, and
computer skills (proficient knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint and other office programs).

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Instruct trainees at regional training centers.
  • Travel to jails and other locations as needed to deliver training.
  • Review and develop curriculum as requested.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION:
Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:
Must have two years of experience in any operation or program within the field of corrections and/or education.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:
Graduate study in corrections, justice administration, or law will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION:
Experience in corrections will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.):
NONE

Working Conditions

Statewide travel will be required to conduct training programs.

Probationary Period

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
