Performs journey level work in one or more of the established building (carpentry, plumbing, electrical, masonry, etc.) and mechanical/repair (air conditioning/heating, auto mechanics, machine tool, upholstery, welding, etc.) trades and leads offender workers in the maintenance and repair of building and equipment and machinery at either the minimum or medium site. Enforces discipline, safety and security, and custodial measures governing offenders in the performance of building trades.
Will plan, assign and direct incarcerated individuals in work task completion steps so that incarcerated individuals achieve competencies and skills needed for successful re-entry.
Performs electrical routine maintenance, such as cutting wire or conduit and drills hole in walls, floors or ceiling for electrical connections.
Paints walls, floors, woodwork and fixtures by using spray guns and brushes.
Does general masonry work, tuck points and rebuilds concrete walls and steps. Connects water supply and drainage lines to sinks, showers, bathtubs and toilets.
Opens clogged drains and replaces washers and pipes by using wrenches and related plumbing tools.
Repairs broken or cracked metal parts by setting up and operating welding equipment.
Scrapes, files and grinds welded parts by using grinders, emery cloth and hand files.
Repairs or rebuilds upholstered furniture. Installs, services and repairs small window air conditioner units.
Does preventive maintenance and repairs/.overhauls automobiles, trucks and related equipment.
Assists in or makes repairs to refrigeration and heating equipment.
Troubleshoots and makes repairs to facility equipment.
Displays a high level of initiative, effort and commitment towards completing assignments efficiently. Works with minimal supervision. Demonstrates responsible behavior and attention to detail.
Demonstrated ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, sketches and other guideline pertaining to building and mechanical trades work. Initiates purchase orders for replacement parts and supplies.
Demonstrates the ability to plan and lay out work, determine cost estimates and maintains records associated with building and mechanical trades work.
Pat searches incarcerated individuals upon their arrival and department, to/from their work area throughout the day.
Evaluate and provide written documentation on incarcerated individuals job performance and behavior.
Communicate issues to Supervisor.
Attend meetings and training. Use computers and other office equipment as required to complete duties and as needed for other requests.
Maintain accurate and up to date offender training records.
Perform other related work duties as assigned. Looking for someone with metal fabrication with mig and tig welding experience.
