The Washington State Department of Corrections is seeking a highly motivated and talented individual for a permanent Correctional Industries Supervisor 2 (CIS2) vacancy in our Food Factory Department. This position is located at Airway Heights Corrections Center in Airway Heights, Washington.

Examples of duties
Manage weekly production planning cycle for Food Manufacturing Group
- Update forecasting and reduction of raw materials in Microsoft D365.
- Conduct Material Resource Planning (MRP) activities to include but not limited to, scheduling raw materials, food purchasing, movement, etc.
- Review factory schedule for adjustments
- Review and provide input on weekly production scheduling
- Provide manufacturing orders to food manufacturing group
- Develop and maintain production schedules to meet customer demands and inventory targets
- Monitor production progress and make adjustments as necessary to stay on schedule
- Analyze production data to identify bottlenecks and implement process improvements
- Participate in cross-functional team meetings to discuss production goals and strategies
Assist with daily material transfer orders and weekly purchasing cycle for Food Manufacturing Group
- Manage inventory levels to minimize excess stock and reduce costs
- Coordinate with procurement and supply chain teams to ensure timely availability of materials
- Update weekly forecasting in Microsoft D365.
- Material resource planning activities for the Food Factory
- Review planning and adjust to changes
- Review and start orders (purchasing, production, transfer), maintaining accuracy and timeliness
- Assist in transfer orders to keep orders in real time
Assist and supervising production
- Collaborate with team in supervising processes, adhering to procedures, ensuring a safe correctional and manufacturing environment
- Provide review and supervision of tool control and safe working practices
- Keep team informed of changes to plan
- Actively supervise and provide leadership to direct reports (documented monthly supervisory conference, leave supervision/approval and process adherence) communication of expectations and professional development.
- Analyze and monitor changes that can impact customer service regarding sales, purchasing, production and inventory movement and communicate with stakeholders to mitigate issues.

- Daily review of potential customer shortage and strategize with team for resolution
- Daily review of inventory adjustments and variances
- Weekly review of production yield
Ensure safe and secure operations
- Maintain security and discipline over Incarcerated workers in accordance with DOC policy
- Account for Incarcerated workers in accordance to DOC policy
- Execute and maintain tool control process in accordance to DOC policy; to include completion of daily tool accountability log, tool add/drops. shadow board, etc.
- Maintain key control per DOC policy
- Use proper notification procedures
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Graduation from High School or equivalent
- One year proficiency in using ERP/MRP systems and production planning software
- One year full-time work experience supervising employees within the past five (5) years in which the supervisory duties included directing the work of the employees supervised and providing employee performance feedback
- Two years of inventory management experience
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and practices
Preferred/Desired:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university whose accreditation is recognized by the US Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA)
- Two (2) years’ full-time work experience supervising employees within the past five (5) years in which the supervisory duties included directing the work of the employees supervised and providing employee performance feedback
- Three (3) or more years’ full-time work experience in food service, food manufacturing, food processing or other institutional feeding.
- Certification in production and inventory management (e.g., APICS CPIM)
- Experience working in a correctional facility
Special Requirements/Conditions of Employment:
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance
- Complete a felony disclosure form prior to employment and submit to a criminal background check
- Successfully complete, within mandated timeframes, employee orientation and all other mandatory annual, in-service and other required training
- Provide physical residential address and home telephone number to the Department of Corrections
- Become familiar and comply with all DOC policies and procedures and Collective Bargaining Agreements as applicable
- Submit to drug testing in accordance with Collective Bargaining Agreement and agency policy
- Have or obtain AIB certification for 'food processing sanitation/hygiene" within 12 months of hire
- Must currently possess or obtain a valid State of Washington Food and Beverage Service Worker's permit within 14 days of hire
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license
- This position may be represented by a union shop
- Must successfully complete CORE training program

Telework Details
This position may be allocated for telework. If authorized for the role, work may be performed from your home or another offsite location within the state of Washington using a reliable internet or cellular hotspot service at that time. Employees are expected to perform assigned duties in a safe manner, to take proper care all state-issued equipment, and maintain confidentiality of all information in possession while working offsite. Employees will be required to commute to a Department of Corrections facility or field office as business requires, to potentially include components of the onboarding process. Some offices will have a “drop in” area available, however, a dedicated workspace within a DOC facility will not be provided.
