- Works under direction of Correctional Industry Manager and/or the direction of the Ohio Penal Industries (OPI) Sales Manager
- Require considerable knowledge of customer sales and service and Ohio penal Industries goods
- Perform in the office and field when necessary to promote sales of OPI workshops and provide consultation to public agencies and other customers for all products manufactured and services offered by OPI (e.g. telephone calls to present and prospective clients, appointments, showroom tours, sales promotions at conferences, conventions, telemarketing)
- Act as sales representative for all products and services of correctional enterprises
- Call on purchasing agents
- Attend meetings, training and conferences
- May give presentations and conduct training
- Respond both verbally and in writing to questions and concerns Work on special projects and/or committees as assigned
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Must conduct oneself professionally and in a law-abiding manner at all times in accordance with Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction Standards of Employee Conduct
- Meet with city and county administrators and other public officials to provide or present detailed drawings and specifications and to discuss merits of correctional industries’ products, types of available products, cost projections and price quotes and prepare sales orders
- Assists customers with purchasing open-office modular systems as office layout, color coordination, and product design using computer aided design software
- Coordinates product delivery
- Prepare and process sale orders and telephone orders to include data entry into computer or typing of shop orders using material resource planning software
- Provide customer service to resolve complaints and recommend appropriate action
- Advise penal industries management of competitive prices, market trend, sales potentials, customers’ reactions to penal industries and commercial products and possible new products for addition to the line
- May appear before city councils, schools, or other public agencies or bodies in conjunction with presentations to negotiation with public agencies and other customers
- Keep informed of new developments in product and material categories utilized and manufactured by the industries
- Participate in exhibits, conferences, conventions, and periodic sales staff meeting
- Prepare sales and promotion reports and correspondence
Qualifications
12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in direct customer sales & service or sales promotion & marketing to include exp. in computer aided drawing software (e.g. AutoCAD, ArchiCAD, Matlab) & material resource planning software (e.g. E2 Shop System, Fishbowl Manufacturing, SAP); valid driver's license.

Pre-Employment Drug Testing:
All final applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to submit to urinalysis to test for illegal drug use prior to appointments. Testing will also be performed for the presence of marijuana. An applicant with a positive test shall not be offered employment unless the applicant submits medical documentation of legally prescribed medications or a recommendation for medical marijuana.
Pre-Employment Background Investigation:
The final applicant selected for the position will be required to undergo a criminal background check. An individual assessment of an applicant’s prior criminal convictions will be made before excluding an applicant from consideration.
The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction is prohibited from hiring:
