Pay Schedule I-C, Grade 4-C, Regular Schedule: 40 hours per week
A vacancy exists in the Department of Corrections.

Under general supervision, properly classifies inmates and detainees within the Department of Corrections and recommends these persons for appropriate treatment and rehabilitation programs.

Required Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in a social or behavioral science or criminal justice.
Licenses and Certificates
Possession of a valid driver's license equivalent to a non-commercial, class C Maryland driver's license is required at the time of appointment.
Age Requirement
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age at the time of appointment.
Character Requirements
All applicants must be of good moral character and emotionally stable, as determined by a comprehensive background investigation, a psychological examination, and a drug test.
Citizenship Requirements
All applicants must be citizens or resident aliens of the United States at the time of appointment.

Applicants are required to submit proof of license(s), certification(s) and education beyond high school to meet the required qualifications of the position. Diplomas or transcripts must show the applicant's major field of study. Copies and unofficial transcripts are acceptable.

Proof of Degree Equivalency

EXAMINATION PROCEDURE
Applicants will be qualified based on an evaluation of their training and experience, as stated on their application, which includes answers to the supplemental questions. Applicants must state the dates and duties of past and present experience clearly and completely for evaluation purposes.
During the first year of employment, the employee must receive certification as a correctional officer from the Maryland Correctional Training Commission.
Persons appointed to this classification may work on either a rotating or fixed shift basis, which may include nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime when scheduled.
Physical and Environmental Conditions
The work of this classification is essentially sedentary. Some positions may involve occasional travel between work sites.
Medical Examination and Employment Background Investigation
Applicants selected for employment with Baltimore County must successfully complete a physical examination, drug screening and employment investigation, including, but not limited to criminal background, education certification and fingerprinting checks.
