CharteredPartners is seeking a Corporate Tax Director to lead complex advisory delivery within a respected accounting firm in Sydney. The successful candidate will own technical quality across a demanding corporate tax portfolio, lead the most intricate advisory engagements and support partners on origination and client strategy. This is a senior delivery and leadership role spanning Australian corporate tax, transfer pricing and the international tax agenda, with accountability for the standards and development of the wider team. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the delivery of complex corporate tax advisory engagements, taking ownership of technical positions and conclusions.
  • Own technical quality across the portfolio, reviewing advice and setting standards for the team.
  • Advise clients on the corporate tax regime (30%, or 25% for base-rate entities), Division 7A, FBT and GST at 10%.
  • Direct transfer pricing and thin capitalisation analyses, including documentation and ATO-readiness.
  • Assess and advise on BEPS and Pillar Two obligations and their interaction with the Australian rules.
  • Support partners on origination, scoping and the development of client relationships.
  • Manage ATO engagement, including reviews, private rulings and dispute resolution.
  • Mentor and develop senior managers and managers, building technical depth across the practice.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • A recognised professional qualification, with CA ANZ membership and / or Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) status through The Tax Institute strongly preferred.
  • Extensive post-qualification experience in Australian corporate tax within a public accounting firm or comparable environment.
  • Authoritative knowledge of the Australian corporate tax regime, including base-rate entity rules and Division 7A.
  • Strong command of transfer pricing and thin capitalisation principles and documentation requirements.
  • Practical experience advising on FBT, GST and withholding obligations.
  • A developing or established command of BEPS and Pillar Two and their Australian application.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex advisory engagements and own technical quality.
  • Experience managing ATO interactions, including reviews and rulings.
  • Strong leadership, review and coaching capability across a multi-level team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with senior client stakeholders.

Preferred Experience:

  • Exposure to large corporate and multinational clients across multiple sectors.
  • Experience advising on mergers, acquisitions and group restructures.
  • Involvement in tax controversy and dispute resolution with the ATO.
  • Familiarity with consolidation, losses and franking account matters.
  • A track record of supporting business development and proposals.
  • Experience contributing to technical training and knowledge-sharing.

Compensation:

Competitive package commensurate with seniority and experience, including base, performance-based bonus, long-term incentives and (where applicable) partner-track participation.
