The Opportunity
CRST is hiring a Corporate Tax Accountant to own the preparation, filing, and accuracy of assigned indirect and direct tax processes. You'll work across fuel, sales and use, property, and other applicable taxes, partnering with internal stakeholders, tax authorities, and external advisors to keep CRST's tax and financial reporting accurate, timely, and compliant.
Beyond tax compliance, you'll support core corporate accounting activities like reconciliations and monthly close, and you'll have the chance to shape how tax and accounting processes run by identifying opportunities for automation and improvement along the way.

What You'll Do
- Prepare and file indirect and direct tax returns, including fuel, sales and use, and property tax, taking ownership of your assigned processes
- Maintain tax calendars to keep every filing and payment on track and on time
- Compile, analyze, and validate the data behind accurate tax compliance and reporting
- Serve as the go-to contact for your assigned tax areas, resolving questions and issues as they come up
- Prepare documentation and responses for tax notices and audits, communicating directly with tax authorities when needed
- Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations and flag potential impacts to the business
- Coordinate with external advisors to validate data and support compliance efforts
- Support monthly close by preparing journal entries, account analysis, and reconciliations
- Look for ways to streamline tax and accounting processes through automation and system improvements

What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- 2 or more years of experience in accounting, tax compliance, or audit
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Going the Extra Mile
- 3 or more years of experience in accounting, tax compliance, or audit
- Experience with multi-jurisdiction indirect and direct tax compliance processes
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting or ERP systems
- CPA or EA, or active progress toward either
