Corporate Sector Strategist

We are looking to strengthen our corporate credit research team with a new Strategist.

You are a driven and curious early career professional, eager to develop quickly and invest in building new skills. You will analyse investment grade corporate issuers across specific sectors, such as real estate, and contribute to sell-side fundamental research with actionable credit market insights. You will leverage AI to work more efficiently, generate deeper insights, and contribute to the team working more efficiently.

You will work closely together with a small, experienced team, offering strong exposure and plenty of room to develop your own sector focus.

Our corporate credit research team focuses on Investment Grade issuers, publishing research on company and sector fundamentals and credit spreads. Client contact is integral to our work, with close collaboration across Debt Capital Markets, Financial Markets trading and sales, and the Wholesale Banking sector teams. We are part of ING’s 80-strong Global Research team, delivering leading insights and working within a close-knit, collaborative research community.

  • Is capable to tell a clear, opinionated and engaging sector and investment story

  • Adds fresh insights that stretch beyond the AI generated obvious ones

  • Closely interacts with stakeholders within and outside the bank

  • Strongly cooperates with sector and communication departments, positioning ING as the leading bank on sector expertise

  • Based on distinct, in-depth expertise adds value to meetings with Wholesale Bank, Debt Capital Markets and Financials Markets clients

An ideal candidate needs a solid foundation to build on, including.

Credit markets expertise

  • Understanding of company fundamentals, including financial statements, credit metrics and rating methodologies
  • Good knowledge of bond markets and different bond products
  • An ability to grasp the bigger economic and markets picture

AI-enabled data extraction and analysis

  • Strong data skills and knowledge how to apply AI efficiently, including to source data or for efficiency purposes

  • Ability to critically assess and validate AI-generated insights, grounded in sector expertise

Experience

  • Completed university degree (Master in Finance, Economics, mathematics or comparable)

  • 2-3 years of experience in credit research or similar

  • Strong skills in Excel, PowerPoint and AI tools, with basic programming skills (e.g. Python) to support data analysis

Personal characteristics

  • Commercially minded, thriving on interaction

  • Data and detail-oriented way of working

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

  • Curious, creative and able to learn and to adapt to changes

  • Good judgement on what makes the difference
