Corporate Search Clerk (Corporate Services Department) – Calgary, AB

Under the general supervision of the Manager, Corporate Services, this position works within our Corporate Services Department to provide corporate search services to our Firm’s lawyers, students and other firm members. These duties include analyzing search results. The candidate will have a strong work ethic, be collaborative, professional, adaptable, positive and interested in their work.

Work Environment

Hybrid remote work arrangements are available with requirements as per business needs for onsite office support. The successful candidate must live in or around Calgary, AB and be able to commute to the office as often as required.

Fasken Calgary has a mandatory requirement of three (3) days in office and up to two (2) days remote, work permitting. In-office requirements are subject to change, based on business needs as determined by the Firm’s Management.

Hours of work are from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.. Occasional pre-authorized overtime may be required to meet business needs.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide lawyers, students and other members of the firm with corporate search services and analysis of search results.
  • Performs all related searches with Corporate Registry, City Online, Land Titles, PPR and may include out of province searches.
  • Analyze results of searches and prepare corporate history summaries and charts as requested.
  • Assist the other corporate search clerks and firm members generally when required which may include conducting searches onsite or attendance at government agencies and other offices.
  • Assist in the development and subsequent maintenance of a manual explaining the prescribed method for carrying out corporate searches.
  • Monitor the Firm's search deposit accounts and ensure all disbursements from these accounts are debited against appropriate files.
  • Assistance with other administrative tasks of the department, such as mail forwarding, minute book filing and forwarding claims.
  • Complete other duties, as assigned, such as performing Level 1 CORES filings.

Required Knowledge and Experience

  • Minimum CORES I certification is required.
  • Minimum two (2) years’ relevant work experience, including general administrative experience.
  • Working knowledge of corporate law is recommended.
  • Experience in a law firm environment is considered an asset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Comfortable with using and learning technology.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Able to resolve daily challenges, such as time management, prioritizing own work based on volume and urgency, and managing various deadlines.
  • Flexible team player who is client service orientated.

The salary range for this position varies based on market rates and experience levels of the qualified candidate. The base pay offered is based on factors such as location, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, internal and market equity.
