Job Category: Quality/Safety/EnvironmentalA developmental position to support the Corporate Quality Department’s roles, responsibilities, and activities for Paulo’s overall success. These activities include the evaluation, maintenance, and assistance of the implementation and improvement of the quality management system at the plants.
In support of the Corporate Director of Quality, this position will encourage strategic initiatives to promote the concepts of continual improvement in accordance with ISO 9001:2015, AS9100D, IATF 16949, and Nadcap requirements. This position will support the Corporate Director of Quality by assisting and developing auditing talents and skills to assist with corporate completion of internal audits at each plant. Perform other duties within Paulo that are consistent with the person’s knowledge and understanding specific to the Quality function at Paulo.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure processes needed for QMS are established, implemented, and maintained at our plants.
- Utilize/manage the corporate audit process to assist plant leadership with QMS processes and improvements, including support of Nadcap, AS9100D, IATF 16949, and CQI-9 compliance activities.
- Provide reports and assistance with performance of QMS to the Plants and Corporate Group.
- Promote and assist problem solving capabilities ensuring identification of root cause.
- Provide training and support on ISO 9001:2015, AS9100D, IATF 16949, and CQI-9 standards for practical application.
- Promote and support the use of lean manufacturing and 5S principles throughout the organization.
- Provide support for QMS and Production areas as needed at the plant level.
- Review and update quality metrics and goals.
- Assist in job development as needed.
- Review updates to existing standards or new standards to ensure compliance and understanding throughout the quality organization.
- Manage and respond to forms team requests as needed.
- Assist with development and maintenance of the Environmental, Health and Safety systems.
- Other Duties as assigned by the Corporate Director of Quality.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; focus on Quality, Operations, Metallurgy, or Engineering highly preferred or equivalent experience.
- 2-5 years’ experience in a heat treating/metals/manufacturing/production environment, a plus.
- Familiarity with ITAR, EAR, and CUI handling requirements a plus, particularly in aerospace and defense manufacturing contexts.
- Understanding of ISO 9001:2015, IATF 16949, AS9100D, CQI-9, or Nadcap required.
- Working knowledge of QMS applications and principles, including auditing techniques, problem solving techniques/tools, lean manufacturing activities, 5S, and statistical tool applications.
- Internal auditor certification to IATF 16949 and/or AS9100D preferred.
- Computer proficiency utilizing Microsoft Office applications as well as other support software.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong service orientation for support and communication with all levels of the organization, as well as external customers and support businesses.
- Must be willing to travel domestically up to 40% of the time, with occasional international travel required.
- Must possess a valid U.S. passport or be able to obtain one prior to employment.
Professional Growth Plan:
- First 6 months includes developing skills to:
- Comprehend the variety of heat treat and metal finishing processes Paulo completes.
- Identify the key aspects of Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001:2015, AS9100D, IATF 16949, and Nadcap).
- Demonstrate understanding of key goals and measures for success of the organization.
- Understand all corporate and plant structures and how they service their customers.
- Within a year you will be able to:
- Own the corporate audit process to assist the plants in monitoring their QMS.
- Utilize the different QMS structures to add value to the overall business.
- Provide leadership on project assignments for improvement.
- Within two years you should be prepared to:
- Present and report performance of the QMS to top management.
- Utilize and conduct training implementing Paulo’s problem solving process.
- Be capable of assuming another role at one of the six North American based plants, adding value, benchmark opportunities, and growth for that plant.
License(s)/Certification(s) Required:
