Responsibilities

About the Role

The Associate, Industry Engagement plays an integral role in advancing Suffolk's presence and influence across the industry associations, professional organizations, and external relationships that matter most to our business. This individual brings experience working within or alongside membership organizations, trade associations, or boards — and understands how to cultivate institutional relationships, support executive engagement, and ensure Suffolk is showing up with purpose across every external touchpoint.

The right candidate has operated at the intersection of relationship management, organizational strategy, and external affairs — and brings that lens to how Suffolk engages with the industry ecosystem while keeping the operational side running with precision.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Suffolk's portfolio of association memberships, sponsorships, board participation, and external partnerships — tracking commitments, maximizing value, and identifying opportunities to deepen or expand the company's involvement
  • Support executive engagement across boards, committees, and industry forums, prepare briefing materials, tracking follow-ups, and serving as a knowledgeable representative of Suffolk in external settings
  • Assist in the planning and execution of Suffolk's participation in industry conferences, signature events, speaking engagements, and sponsorship activations — with a focus on strategic presence as well as logistics
  • Maintain systems for tracking engagement activity, relationship health, ROI metrics, and key contacts across Suffolk's association and partner landscape, including CRM management
  • Coordinate cross-functionally with Business Development, Marketing, Government Affairs, and Community Relations to align industry engagement efforts with broader organizational goals
  • Handle administrative functions in support of the team including scheduling, expense reporting, invoice processing, and file management

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • 4-8 years of experience in association management, membership organizations, external affairs, corporate affairs, or a related field; experience working at or closely with a trade association, professional organization, or industry board strongly preferred
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and workstreams simultaneously without dropping the ball
  • Proactive and self-directed — anticipates needs, closes gaps, takes ownership of work
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable drafting professional correspondence, briefing materials, and presentations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); experience with CRM platforms or association management systems a plus
  • Willingness to travel domestically to support industry events and external engagements as needed
  • Candidate must embody Suffolk's Core Values: Passion, Integrity, Hard Work, Professionalism, and Caring
