Department purpose

A&O Shearman's M&A and Private Equity team is recognised as one of the leading corporate practices in the market, advising private equity sponsors, corporates, institutional investors and founders on some of the most complex and high-profile transactions across Australia and globally.

As part of a truly global firm, we work closely with colleagues across our international network on cross-border M&A, private equity investments, carve-outs, exits, strategic acquisitions and joint ventures. The majority of our transactions involve a multi-jurisdictional element, giving our lawyers exposure to sophisticated matters with an international dimension.

We are known for our collaborative approach, strong client relationships and ability to navigate complex regulatory and commercial challenges. Our lawyers work alongside leading private equity sponsors and many of the world's largest organisations, gaining hands-on experience on transactions that shape industries and drive business growth.

Role purpose

We are looking for an Australian or New Zealand qualified Lawyer with 5 to 8 years’ experience to join our corporate team in Sydney, on a full-time permanent basis. We offer:

• Outstanding academic credentials.
• Training from a top tier law firm with strong M&A and Private Equity experience.
• Resilient self-starter with the intellectual curiosity and versatility to continuously acquire, build upon and share knowledge.
• Highly motivated team player with excellent organisational skills.
• Clear and concise verbal and written communicator with outstanding interpersonal skills and a good eye for detail.
• Entrepreneurial drive.
• Strong commercial/business acumen.
• Clear understanding of law firm economics and an understanding of the firm's strategic priorities.
• A person of sound judgement and core values, able to establish a high level of credibility.
