BDO Ireland is seeking a skilled Trainee to join our successful and expanding Corporate Governance team. This is a 3 year training contract based in our Dublin firm.

The successful candidate will work as part of a small team within the department, with a varied workload including responsibility for a large portfolio of Irish, UK clients across many industry sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparing and filing Annual Returns
  • Drafting Minutes for Board and Shareholder Meetings
  • Statutory post incorporation changes to include, but not limited to, appointment and resignation of officers, transferring and allotting shares and changes to the Constitution
  • Incorporating new Companies
  • Striking-off dormant Companies
  • Preparing and filing statutory forms with the Companies Registration Office in Dublin, Companies House in the UK and the Isle of Man Company Registry
  • Maintaining Statutory Registers and Minute Books
  • Developing and managing relationships with internal and external clients as necessary
  • Assisting where required on ad-hoc projects

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Essential

  • Bachelor’s degree (or expected degree) in Law, Business or a related discipline with a minimum of a 2:1 or above
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Professional, discreet, and able to handle confidential information
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Desirable

  • Interest in corporate governance, company secretarial work, or compliance
  • Exposure to governance, legal, or regulatory environments (e.g. internship, placement, student society role)
  • Understanding of basic company law principles
  • Willingness to pursue a professional governance qualification (e.g. CGI/ICSA)
