Job Description

CharteredPartners is seeking a Corporate Finance & Advisory Partner to lead and grow the deal practice of a leading accounting firm in London. This is a senior origination and leadership mandate with responsibility for a profit-and-loss account, business development and the delivery of complex transactions across one of the world's deepest private equity and debt-advisory markets. You will set the practice's strategic direction, lead M&A and transaction-services engagements, and build the team and client relationships that sustain long-term growth. Specific qualifications, regulatory fluency and technical breadth are detailed in the sections that follow.

Confidential Client. Applying to this position means that you are interested to have an initial confidential discussion about how we can help you to identify and join a new accounting-firm practice. With your authorisation we will exclusively run the entire application and recruitment process for you, keeping you apprised at every step. With over 30 years' combined experience of helping the most talented accounting, audit, tax and advisory professionals to make safe, well-judged moves into rewarding new roles, we have the experience, network and ability to help you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Originate and win corporate finance & advisory mandates, building a pipeline of M&A, transaction-services and debt-advisory engagements across the UK market.
  • Own the practice profit-and-loss account, setting strategy, budgets and growth targets and accounting for financial performance.
  • Lead the delivery of complex transactions for private equity, corporate and lender clients, including mid-market and larger deals.
  • Act as the firm's senior relationship holder for clients, boards, sponsors and intermediaries, maintaining trusted long-term partnerships.
  • Build, mentor and lead a multidisciplinary deal team, recruiting and developing directors, managers and executives.
  • Oversee technical quality and risk management, including takeover-code considerations and FRS 102 and IFRS analysis.
  • Represent the firm in the market through thought leadership, sponsor networks and industry profile.
  • Maintain awareness of FCA, LSE and AIM requirements relevant to transactions and listed clients.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • A recognised professional accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CA or equivalent) in good standing.
  • Extensive post-qualification experience in corporate finance, transaction services or M&A advisory, including time at partner, director or equivalent level.
  • A demonstrable record of originating and leading transactions in the UK market.
  • Strong commercial acumen with proven profit-and-loss or practice-leadership responsibility.
  • Deep knowledge of the UK private equity and debt-advisory landscape.
  • Familiarity with takeover-code considerations and FCA, LSE and AIM requirements.
  • Fluency in FRS 102 and IFRS as applied to transactions.
  • An established network among private equity sponsors, corporates, lenders and intermediaries.
  • Excellent leadership, negotiation and stakeholder-management capabilities.
  • The right to work in the United Kingdom or eligibility to obtain it.

Preferred Experience:

  • Significant exposure to UK private equity buy-side and sell-side mandates.
  • A track record of debt-advisory or refinancing transactions.
  • Experience building or scaling a corporate finance practice or service line.
  • Established relationships with sponsors and capital providers across the UK and Europe.
  • Sector specialism in areas such as technology, business services, consumer or healthcare.
  • A reputation in the market that supports business development and team recruitment.

Compensation:

Competitive package commensurate with seniority and experience, including base, performance-based bonus, long-term incentives and (where applicable) partner-track participation.

Next Steps:

This opportunity is open to candidates holding or eligible for the right to work in the United Kingdom who match the above criteria. Please apply to receive prompt contact from an experienced and specialist accounting-firm recruitment consultant.
