Job Description

This individual will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable Federal, State, and Municipal environmental rules and regulations as well as drive environmental compliance improvements throughout our domestic operations.

This individual will have the ability to work remote but should be within commutable distance to our Muscatine, Iowa location.
What You Will Do:

  • Manage compliance with federal, state, local environmental regulations for Muscatine facilities and support EHS Managers with environmental compliance at regional facilities.
  • Submit monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, or annual reports to Regulatory Agencies, as required.
    • Examples include: annual Tier 2, emission inventory, TRI, Title V Annual Compliance Certification, etc.
  • Provide technical level environmental support and prepare necessary permit applications for new projects, facilities changes, and process changes.
  • Assist management with investigations, provide recommendations for corrective or preventive measures, and ensure that accurate environmental records are maintained.
  • Provide leadership and direction in the development, administration, and maintenance of environmental compliance and continuous improvement program elements including development of corporate guidelines, standards, and practices.
  • Serve as the technical resource for the plant(s) before Federal, State, and Local regulatory agencies and act as liaison with applicable external regulatory agencies during environmental compliance audits.
  • Maintain a current working knowledge of environmental regulations and laws to provide expertise for assessments, capital projects, work orders, and general environmental related problem solving.
  • Analyze proposed and/or final regulations for impacts to manufacturing operations that could require substantial capital expenditures or compliance challenges.
  • Conduct regular environmental compliance audits and regulatory applicability reviews.
  • Communicate Environmental opportunities and risks to site and to EHS Leadership.
  • Implement a communication and training strategy across operations that reinforces compliance, a high level of Environmental awareness, and ownership at all levels.
  • Track and communicate environmental performance metrics including goals and the core processes.
  • Ensure prompt escalation of environmental compliance issues to EHS Leadership.
  • Provide support for sustainability efforts including: data collection, waste assessments, energy treasure hunts, etc.

What You Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, EHS Management, or related field
  • 5 years of professional experience, preferably in a manufacturing plant environment
  • Professional experience in air permitting and operations, wastewater permitting and operations, and regulatory experience in CAA, CWA, SARA, TIER II, TRI (EPCRA), NESHAP, RCRA, CERCLA, SPCC, etc.
  • Knowledge of ISO 14001 standards is preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of data management, spreadsheets and structured problem-solving methods

  • Independently plan projects, align needed resources, track and communicate progress and meet deadlines
  • Strong verbal, written, analytical, and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively
  • Ability to travel up to 30%
