The Corporate Engineer is a key resource for executing on more difficult tasks encountered in projects and is focused primarily on completing tasks or projects in a timely manner. The Corporate Engineer is also a main technical resource for any composite development and materials or associated process related issues.

Responsible for the design, development, alteration or modification of a line or type of product/process. Evaluates and reports on new devices, patents, or competitive items. Has some latitude for independent and original action and decision.

This role will focus on Composite Material design and process development:

  • Technical resource for material development and product development
  • Responsible for new process development for composite related processes
  • Specify installation requirements, develop SOW, obtain bids/proposals, and install new capital equipment.
  • Responsible for development of new materials and product realization
  • Responsible for qualifications of new materials
  • Support existing composite production and any formulation changes
  • Responsible for Process control and associated process documentation
  • Manages Engineering change controls
  • Responsible for formulation development and adjustments to match customer expectations
  • Responsible for process engineering training on DMAIC and six sigma methodologies
  • Manage green belt continuous improvement projects for process engineers
  • Manage process engineering and best practices sharing communication enterprise wide.
  • Manage A3 projects within budget and on time
  • Manage R&D budget and projects

Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Execute on approved engineering projects and tasks to realize ROI and to meet timeline, communicate to all stakeholders on project progress and organize project reviews as per plan.
  • Design and install processes that meet or exceed our stakeholder’s requirements and regulatory requirements
  • Serve as a technical resource for any composite and materials related issues.
  • Product and process development
  • Manage Process control and process documentation
  • Qualifications of raw materials
  • Process engineering training and green belt projects
  • R&D project management
  • Led A3 projects for development of new products, processes, and qualifications
  • Support facility engineering with difficult tasks encountered on projects
  • Execute on projects and tasks as outlined and directed by the director of engineering (typically requested by the various facilities) in a timely manner and communicate to all stake holders project progress.
  • Lead FMEA and Control Plan initiatives
  • Lead effort to with specify installation requirements, develop SOW, obtain bids/proposals, and install new capital equipment.

Other Duties

  • Assist manufacturing facilities with the implementation of new processes and equipment.
  • Technical reporting of new material, process and key equipment capabilities (white papers).
  • Develop technical training documents for TGC materials and processes to further educate our sales and manufacturing teams and assist with sourcing alternate materials as required.
  • Perform data analysis and report in coherent format for applicability
  • Identify and execute on continuous Improvement opportunities and document savings
  • Participate with the engineering team as a liaison with UL, NEMA, IEC, IEEE, and other industry associations.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in Capital equipment procurement, specification, and installation
  • Project management competency
  • Background in materials and equipment in a manufacturing environment
  • Outstanding Organizational Skills and use of Project Management Software
  • Performance Driven Work Ethic with a Desire for Personal & Professional Growth
  • Ability to analyze complex data and perform statistical analyses
  • Software skills in Excel, Word, and Power point are essential
  • FMEA and Control Plan facilitation experience
  • Education & Experience
  • BS/MS in Engineering (ME, ChE, Materials Engineering)
  • OSHA competency in industrial environment
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in manufacturing engineering environment
  • Self-starter and a team player that will thrive in an entrepreneurial environment
  • Lean / Six Sigma / Continuous Improvement background and problem-solving skills

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Travel will be required to support projects throughout the enterprise as part of this function.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands and fingers; talk and hear.

Work Environment

The work environment is typical of most office environments; occasionally, the position will be required to be on the manufacturing floor. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
