Corporate Development & Investor Relations Intern

Position Overview

MACOM is seeking a highly motivated undergraduate student to join our Corporate Development & Investor Relations team for a unique summer internship experience. This role offers hands-on experience supporting leadership in areas including corporate development, investor relations, market research, competitive intelligence, and strategic planning.

The selected candidate will work closely with the Corporate Development team gaining firsthand experience in evaluating markets opportunities, analyzing competitors, investor communications, and strategic planning.

This internship is designed for intellectually curious individuals who enjoy solving complex business problems, analyzing markets, and communicating insights. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects that directly support the business.

During the 12 weeks each Intern will:

• Be given an individual and well-defined project with set outcome goals
• Gain hands on experience
• Receive excellent training and ongoing supervision
• Be invited to attend an intern webinar series
• Attend networking/social events
• Attend and present at Poster Session about each Interns project successes and pitfalls
• Receive formal, written feedback

Key Responsibilities

Corporate Development

• Support acquisition screening, market analysis, and strategic opportunity assessments.
• Conduct market research across the semiconductor, data center, aerospace & defense, satellite communications, and telecommunications industries.
• Develop competitive intelligence reports and analyze industry trends, customer dynamics, and emerging technologies.
• Support management of corporate development pipelines, research databases, and strategic tracking tools.

Investor Relations

• Monitor and summarize equity research reports, industry commentary, and analyst perspectives.
• Track peer company performance, earnings results, strategic developments, and market trends.
• Analyze earnings call transcripts and identify key themes emerging across the semiconductor industry.
• Conduct benchmarking and competitive positioning analyses.

Strategic & Executive Projects

• Support special projects for the leadership team.
• Contribute to strategic positioning, investor research, capital structure assessments, and risk-related analyses.
• Research industry trends and provide fact-based recommendations to support decision-making.
• Prepare concise executive reports that translate complex information into actionable insights.

Qualifications

Required

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field.
• Rising Junior or Senior standing at an accredited university.
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
• Strong interest in corporate development, investor relations, corporate strategy, investment banking, or equity research.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Familiarity with generative AI and large language model tools.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to synthesize large amounts of information into concise, executive-level summaries.

Preferred

• Prior experience conducting financial, market, or industry research.
• Coursework in finance, valuation, accounting, investments, economics, or strategy.
• Understanding of publicly traded companies and financial markets.
• Interest in technology, semiconductors, communications infrastructure, or aerospace & defense markets.

The Hourly Range for this position is $20 – $47 per hour. Actual salary offered to candidate will depend on several factors, including but not limited to, work location, relevant candidates’ experience, education, and specific knowledge, skills, and abilities.
