Job Description

emergiTEL is hiring a Senior Legal Counsel for our client in the healthcare and life sciences industry. This is a Permanent role.
Location: Ottawa, ON, Canada

 
  • Provide strategic legal advice and guidance on a wide range of corporate, commercial, and business law matters, both domestic and international
  • Advise on complex corporate transactions, contracts, and commercial agreements
  • Support mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, strategic partnerships, and infrastructure projects
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations affecting the health sciences and life sciences industry
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate legal and regulatory risks while supporting business initiatives
  • Supervise and manage external legal counsel and coordinate cross‑functional legal projects
  • Oversee intellectual property matters, including patents and trademarks
  • Manage the legal budget and relationships with external counsel
  • Deliver practical, business‑focused legal solutions in a highly transactional environment
Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent legal degree and admission to the Law Society of Ontario
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant legal experience, preferably within the health sciences or life sciences sector
  • Strong knowledge of corporate, commercial, and applicable regulatory law
  • Experience with international legal matters and familiarity with U.S., EU, and U.K. legal systems is an asset
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, analytical, and drafting skills
  • Proven ability to work independently and provide pragmatic legal advice aligned with business objectives
