Baptist Healthcare System, Inc. is seeking a skilled attorney to join its in‑house legal services team and support a growing, mission‑driven healthcare system headquartered in Louisville, Kentucky. The Corporate Counsel will provide practical, business-oriented legal advice to support Baptist Health’s operations and strategic initiatives. This role works closely with executive leadership, operational teams, and clinical partners, advising on a broad range of healthcare and corporate matters in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with a team of in-house attorneys.
Essential Duties:
Provide legal advice and services for Baptist Health and its affiliated companies to assure that the organizational structure, business transactions, and operational activities of Baptist Healthcare System, Inc. and its affiliated companies comply with applicable laws and regulations
Provide legal counsel on healthcare regulatory, corporate, and operational matters affecting hospitals, physician practices, and affiliated entities
Draft, review, and negotiate a wide variety of agreements, including professional service agreements, leases, physician employment agreements, commercial and vendor contracts, and strategic affiliations
Support system growth initiatives, including expansions, acquisitions, and new service offerings
Interprets, analyzes, and advises on federal, state, and local laws and regulations involving general healthcare, patient care, regulatory, and compliance matters including HIPAA, guardianship, consent, billing, Medicare and Medicaid regulations, 340B, accreditation and licensure, anti-kickback law, tax exemption, and Stark law
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to mitigate and manage enterprise risk while enabling business objectives
Qualifications:
Juris Doctor from an accredited law school with at least five years' experience
Active license to practice law or eligible for licensure in Kentucky and membership in the Kentucky Bar Association
Experience in healthcare law, corporate law, or a related practice area
Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills
Ability to provide clear, practical legal advice in a collaborative environment
Onsite, hybrid, or remote work arrangements in Kentucky preferred.
