We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Relationship Manager, Global Network Banking, India Based in Mumbai.

Principal Responsibilities

The person will acquire, retain, and grow GNB customer relationships for HSBC while adhering to the Group values, business strategy, operational policies, regulatory requirements and risk management practices. GNB is a critical segment to CIB and this position is required to maximize the value of these relationships both domestically and internationally by working closely with group offices and product partners.

In this role you will

  • Lead coverage of inbound client relationships. This role is expected to manage an independent portfolio
  • Manage, direct and control all aspects of a portfolio with the view to maximize customer value and identify alignment opportunities with other product groups
  • Drive growth in assets and liabilities as required. Generate quality assets through the use of appropriate risk management tools, priced appropriately for risk and ensure superior returns within customers risk appetite.
  • Have responsibility to increase the portfolio income contribution and market share by originating new business, maximizing client wallet share from own portfolio, increasing cross-introduction of the bank's entire suite of products and services, as well as defending existing business
  • Client penetration and deepen client engagement at both working and senior stakeholder levels via intensive relationship management strategy
  • Ability to hunt, source and onboard new-to-bank customers while deepening relationship and cross-sell within own portfolio is a key role requirement
  • Strong capability to originate, structure and execute transactions for his/her own clients or new-to-bank clients. Ability to run and oversee the credit process from end to end
  • Proactive portfolio monitoring from a holistic perspective across KYC, transactional accounts, negative news and debt performance to early identify and mitigate potential credit, non-financial and operational risks/issues. Acting as the First Line of Defence with strong due diligence to safeguard the bank from financial crime risks
  • Establish an effective working relationship with Risk Management teams, in order to validate the accuracy of the customer risk profile, and ensure sustainable asset growth
  • Collaborate with other HSBC sites to support clients’ expansion plans in other countries
  • Collaborating with product partners to identify and match customer needs with relevant expertise; notably with Global Trade Solution, Global Payments Solution, Issuer Services, Global Markets etc.
  • Generate referrals for other Global Businesses, e.g. GC, IMM, WPB (Wealth & Personal Banking), as appropriate.
  • Ensure timely and accurate maintenance of customer information on various HSBC system and any other systems as required
  • Take timely and proactive corrective action to mitigate potential losses, exercising effective portfolio stewardship and control
  • Keep abreast of external factors influencing international business e.g. economic, cultural, geographical, procedural and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain a proactive calling programme to service clients, ensuring senior management and key stakeholders for GNB clients are contacted regularly
  • Ensure a quality service for all customers by owning customer engagement, ensuring service excellence at all times, for all aspects of any customer, prospect or professional’s interaction with HSBC
  • Help the customer to draw on the HSBC group network by working closely with other CIB countries and product groups
  • Exercise effective portfolio stewardship and control, ensuring adherence to all relevant Risk policies, Audit and Compliance standards

Qualifications

  • Degree holder with a Finance, Business or Accountancy background
  • Relevant experience in a front-line business development role in corporate banking
  • Prior experience of working in a business development / client acquisition focused role is preferred
  • Strong credit and business development skills with ability to maintain and grow existing client portfolio, acquire new clients, identify opportunities, and convert these into tangible business for the bank
  • Robust credit, analytical and structuring capability, ability to assess client credit profile and metrics and asset/corporate cashflow
  • Solid knowledge of sophisticated Capital Markets, Global Markets, Cash Management and Trade Services products with prior experience in marketing these products

Additional Notes :

Familiarity with AI-enabled tools is an advantage.
