 OVERVIEW

Hiring for a major bank: Corporate Actions Specialists to join its Operations group. As a Corporate Actions Specialist, you will manage corporate action events from announcement through to payment for securities held on behalf of the bank's clients.

The team processes a large, steady volume of corporate action events, including mergers, acquisitions, dividends, interest payments, maturities and redemptions, announced through major depositories such as CDS, DTC, BNP and Citi. Each event can affect a large number of client accounts, so accuracy, attention to detail and a strong understanding of the corporate action lifecycle are essential.

There are openings in three functional areas: Corporate Action Notifications, Reorganizations (Mandatory and Voluntary) and Entitlements. You will be matched to one area based on your experience.

12 month contract to start

Rates: $35-$40 / hour

RESPONSIBILITIES

Corporate Action Notifications

• Review daily depository bulletins and market announcements
• Interpret event terms and prepare accurate notices to shareholders
• Publish notices for mandatory and voluntary reorganizations, cash dividends, interest events and other corporate actions
• Validate key event details such as dates, ratios, options and deadlines before release
• Identify and escalate discrepancies between depository announcements and internal records

Reorganizations (Mandatory and Voluntary)

• Process mandatory events such as mergers, acquisitions, name changes, consolidations and splits on their effective dates
• Process voluntary events such as tender offers and elections, and track client instructions through to expiry
• Update client positions by removing existing securities and crediting new shares or cash
• Manage multiple events at once in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment
• Reconcile positions and payments and resolve breaks

Entitlements

• Process declared distributions, including cash and stock dividends, interest payments, maturities and redemptions
• Calculate and allocate entitlements to client accounts on Broadridge
• Reconcile payments received from depositories against amounts allocated
• Investigate and resolve payment discrepancies and outstanding items

All Areas

• Extract and reconcile data from Broadridge and internal systems
• Build Excel tools and trackers to support day-to-day processing and resolve ad hoc issues
• Support month-end and peak-volume periods
• Follow control procedures and keep documentation accurate

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

• 1+ year of hands-on corporate actions experience in notifications, reorganizations or entitlements
• Strong understanding of the corporate action lifecycle, from announcement to payment
• Experience working with depositories such as CDS, DTC, BNP or Citi
• Advanced Excel skills
• Available to commit to the full 12-month contract term
• Legally eligible to work in Canada

Preferred

• 4 to 5 years of corporate actions experience
• Experience with Broadridge
• Background at a Canadian bank, broker-dealer or custodian
• Excel macro / VBA experience
• Exposure to both mandatory and voluntary reorganization processing
• Strong problem-solving skills, a high level of accuracy, and the ability to manage competing deadlines
