We are looking for an experienced and technically strong Corporate Accounting Manager to lead our corporate accounting operations in a dynamic payments environment. This role is critical in maintaining the integrity of financial reporting across our global business, owning day-to-day transactional approvals, driving quarterly financial reporting and lender compliance, and managing a team of two accounting professionals. The ideal candidate possesses deep accounting knowledge, hands-on leadership experience, strong SOX awareness, and a working understanding of payment processing and transaction flows.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day journal entry and vendor bill approvals, ensuring timely and accurate processing in accordance with company policies and US GAAP.
- Manage and develop a team accounting staff, providing direction, coaching, and review of work product across assigned corporate accounting areas.
- Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes across multiple entities, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely reporting under US GAAP.
- Own corporate accounting areas including fixed assets (ASC 360), payroll accounting, lease accounting (ASC 842), operating expense (OpEx) management, and standalone internal monthly financials for corporate entities.
- Initiate and own the process for preparing standalone internal monthly financial statements and quarterly financial reporting packages, including the development of scalable, repeatable close procedures.
- Review and approve complex journal entries, account reconciliations, intercompany eliminations, and financial statement components; support quarterly lender filings and debt covenant compliance reporting.
- Ensure proper application of accounting standards such as ASC 842 (Leases) and ASC 830 (Foreign Currency Translation) along with familiarity of ASC 606 (Revenue Recognition) and ASC 805 (Business Combinations).
- Review SOX team findings, assess control gaps, and drive early remediation of prior-year deficiencies; maintain a strong internal control environment and actively participate in control design and improvement activities.
- Liaise with external auditors and management consultants in support of necessary audits and reviews.
- Manage and execute special accounting projects as assigned, including ERP enhancements, automation of reconciliations, finance process optimization, and other initiatives requiring technical accounting judgment.
- Directly manage and mentor accounting staff members, setting clear goals, reviewing deliverables, and promoting continuous development in technical and operational accounting areas.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA required.
- 6–8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership roles.
- Prior experience in the payments, fintech, or financial services industry strongly preferred.
- Experience in managing shared services or centralized accounting functions.
Technical Accounting Knowledge:
- Deep understanding and practical application of:
- US GAAP financial reporting standards
- Lease accounting (ASC 842) and Fixed asset accounting (ASC 360)
- Foreign currency transactions and translation (ASC 830)
- Deferred revenue, reserves, and accruals
- Bank reconciliations and settlement account management in high-volume environments
- Experience with financial systems and ERPs such as NetSuite, Floqast, SAP Concur, etc.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel (e.g., pivot tables, lookups, financial modeling).
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong leadership and team development skills.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Proven ability to manage accounting for complex transaction flows across multiple entities and currencies.
Working Conditions
- Extensive desk-based work involving prolonged periods using a computer and sitting for extended periods.
- Frequent interaction with team members, leaders, subject matter experts, internal stakeholders, and cross-functional partners to support learning intake, coordination, and project execution.
- Work requires balancing multiple priorities, deadlines, and stakeholder needs across enterprise functions.
