Job Description

Jennie Joiner with The Forum Group PNW is partnering with a large, well-established organization to recruit a Corporate Accounting Assistant for its Accounts Payable team in Eugene. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who genuinely enjoys detailed, heads-down accounting work, high-volume data entry, and problem-solving. Accuracy is extremely important in this position, and the ideal candidate will take pride in getting things right while working through a significant volume of invoices each month.

What You'll Do

Initially, this position will be heavily focused on high-volume Accounts Payable processing and data entry. The team currently processes paper invoices, and this individual will manually enter invoice and GL coding information into the company's internal accounting system.

The volume can be significant, particularly at the beginning of each month, with approximately 3,000 invoices processed monthly.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Perform high-volume entry of vendor invoices and supplier transactions.
  • Review invoices and accurately enter GL coding and payment information.
  • Reconcile vendor statements to internal ledger accounts.
  • Research and resolve invoice and payment discrepancies.
  • Work directly with vendors regarding past-due invoices and payment issues.
  • Partner with store locations to research missing invoices and troubleshoot discrepancies.
  • Process vendor payments through internal systems and vendor portals.
  • Retrieve invoices and account information from vendor websites.
  • Maintain accurate records across a large volume of transactions.

An Accounting Team in Transition

This is an especially interesting time to join the department. The organization is preparing to transition from its current legacy accounting system and paper-based processes to a new web-based invoice platform.

As the new technology is implemented, the position will gradually shift away from primarily manual data entry. Instead, you'll spend more time reviewing, reconciling, identifying discrepancies, and ensuring the information flowing through the system is accurate.

Because of this transition, we're looking for someone who not only has excellent data-entry skills but also brings an analytical mindset and enjoys figuring out why something doesn't match. The strongest candidate will be someone who enjoys detail-oriented work and can stay focused while processing a high volume of information. Accuracy is more important than speed in this role.

We're looking for:

  • Strong 10-key by touch skills with excellent accuracy.
  • Accounts Payable and/or Accounts Receivable experience.
  • Experience with account and vendor statement reconciliations.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Comfort performing repetitive, high-volume data entry.
  • Ability to research and resolve discrepancies independently.
  • Intermediate Excel skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability and willingness to learn a legacy accounting system as well as new technology.
  • Associate degree in Accounting or 3–5 years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Multi-company accounting experience is helpful but not required.

The Environment

This is a 100% onsite position at the company's corporate office in Eugene. The accounting team is described as friendly, collaborative, and stable, with several long-term employees.

Someone with a mellow, dependable, heads-down working style who enjoys coming in, focusing on their responsibilities, and producing accurate work will fit especially well with this team.

The normal schedule is Monday–Friday, approximately 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., with some flexibility around start and end times.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

You'll join a financially established organization that invests in employee training, resources, and professional development while offering strong benefits and work-life balance.

Full-time Oregon employees receive 40 hours of Paid Sick Leave front-loaded annually, in addition to the organization's broader benefits package and available VTO plans.

If you enjoy Accounts Payable, reconciliations, high-volume accounting work, and digging into discrepancies until everything balances, we'd love to hear from you.
