Job Description

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in North Yorkshire to assist with the appointment of a Coroner Support Officer, on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £13.47 - £16.79 per hour

Support HM Coroner during inquest hearings by ensuring the smooth and efficient running of court proceedings, assisting bereaved families and witnesses, managing court administration, maintaining accurate records, and providing professional support throughout the inquest process.

Responsibilities:

  • Support HM Coroner during inquest hearings and ensure court proceedings run efficiently.
  • Prepare, check, print, and organise hearing bundles and case files.
  • Set up courtrooms, recording equipment, and remote attendance systems (Microsoft Teams).
  • Welcome and assist families, witnesses, legal representatives, and other attendees.
  • Explain court procedures and provide empathetic support to bereaved families.

Essentials:

  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent.
  • Strong IT skills and ability to use case management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Relevant administration or customer service experience.
  • Experience working directly with distressed, vulnerable, or bereaved individuals.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
