The Corners Coachis responsible forcoaching and developingstudent-athletesassigned to the cornerback position while supporting the overall defensive philosophy of the football program. This position contributes to competitive success, recruiting efforts, and student-athlete development whilemaintainingfull compliance with NCAA Division II, conference, and institutional regulations.
ESSENTIALDUTIES &RESPONSIBILITIES
Coaching & Player Development
Coach cornerbacks in position-specific fundamentals, techniques, and schemes
Teach coverage techniques, press and off-man coverage, footwork, tackling, and ball skills
Assistwith defensive practice planning, drills, and game preparation
Evaluate player performance through film analysis and practice assessment
Promote academic success, discipline, and personal development of student-athletes
Game Planning & Analysis
Assist the Defensive Coordinator with opponent scouting, film breakdown, and game planning
Prepare scouting reports and self-scout evaluations related to pass defense
Participate in game-day coaching responsibilities and in-game adjustments
Recruiting
Identify, evaluate, and recruit prospective student-athletes for the cornerback positionin accordance withNCAA Division II rules
Maintain recruiting documentation and databases
Assistwith official and unofficial visits and recruiting events
Administration & Compliance
Ensure compliance with all NCAA Division II, conference, and institutional rules
Assistwith monitoring academic progress, eligibility, and conduct of assigned student-athletes
Completerequired administrative documentation and reports
Representthe football program and university in a professional manner
Program Support & Additional Duties
Assistwith camps, clinics, fundraising, and community engagement activities
Support strength and conditioning programming for defensive backs in coordination with athletic performance staff
Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Football Coach or Athletic Administration
Assistin transportation of athletes to/from athletic events, which may include driving a full-size passenger van or other large capacity vehicle.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’sdegree/or equivalent working experience from an accredited institution
Playingand/or coaching experience at the cornerback or defensive back position
Knowledgeof defensive schemes and coverage concepts
Understandingof NCAA Division II rules and regulations
Strongcommunication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
Musthave a State of Texas or Arkansas class "C" vehicle operator's license or ability to obtain within30 daysof employment.
Acceptable driving record and periodic completion of van safety course
Preferred Qualifications
Collegiatecoaching experience, preferably at the NCAA Division II level
Recruitingexperience at the collegiate level
Master’sdegree
Experiencewith video analysis platforms (e.g.,Hudl, XOS)
Other Requirements
Abilityto travel extensively and work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Requirements
Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Working in all weather conditions, exposure to high noise levels, standing throughout the day, the ability to use a loud voice at practices and events and physical involvement in all practices and workouts with players.
